PROVE THE WORD BY THE WORD AND STUDY THE WORD

Greetings to all and welcome back to this teaching series titled “The Curse Causeless – Part Six”. This Truth from the Word of God may not make one comfortable but bringing comfort is not the only purpose of the Word of God. It is a comfort when we are seeking first the Kingdom of God and His way of doing things, but it is a warning for those who are off His path. Of His path means we have breached the Word of God, and the demonic powers can take us captive at their will. Let’s revisit our anchor Scripture and then move forward in this study.
Proverbs 26:2 (ESV)
2 Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, a curse that is causeless does not alight.
To reiterate, the curse will not, cannot enter our lives without a cause. God is never the cause, the devils are never the cause, leaving you and I as the cause. That is not to say that the demons don’t play a role, but it is you and me who decide between their words and the Word of God. Just like Adam and Eve. We must be good Berean’s and study the Word of God diligently and be constantly vigilant to the lies of the demons (frequently coming through people we trust).
Acts 17:11 (ESV)
11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
Are we doing this?
2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV)
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Are we doing this or just gobbling up what we hear? Now, let’s examine briefly why bad things happen to “good people”. Remember there is always a cause! It is not some “sovereign” act of God that we don’t understand now but will in the by and by.
Luke 13:1-5 (ESV)
1 There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way?
3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem?
5 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
This is from mouth of the Master whether we like it or not, it is the Truth and a stern warning. These people perished due to unrepented sin. Perhaps it was sin with full knowledge, or sin of ignorance but either way unrepented sin. One does not have to repent of righteousness only unrighteousness. Are we careful to examine ourselves and ask the Lord to reveal sin in our lives that we have not recognized or repented of? An interesting Truth that follows this is the role of the intercessor in all of this.
Luke 13:6-9 (ESV)
6 And he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.
7 And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’
8 And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure.
9 Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”
Are you interceding for those around you and are those around you interceding on your behalf. An intercessor can bring mercy, delaying judgement, not forever but for a season.
TAKE HOME:
- Are you proving the Word of God you hear at Church, from various Ministries (including this one), by the Word of God? Are you studying to know the Word of God, the will of God?
- Calamity does not enter our lives uninvited.
- Are you an intercessor for those around you, both the saved and unsaved?
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
