THE HOUR IS COME
Greetings to all of the dear friends and partners of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word blog. God is so good precious saints. Please take a moment and share this teaching to broaden the reach of this Ministry, and the Truth. The featured picture today was taken by a game camera in our back yard. The image is of a dove (mourning dove) flying away. As you know the dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:16 (KJV)
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Let me ask us all a question. Is the dove, the Holy Spirit, flying toward us, our Church, and alighting or is He being grieved and having to depart? Is He upon us, in us, and working out through us as we yield to the will of God, the still small voice of the Holy Spirit? Or, is He having to stand back and with tears running down His face watch us exercise our freewill in disastrous ways? Let’s each one of us take these questions quite serious and judge ourselves with the help of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 17:1-3 (KJV)
1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
As you will recall, Jesus is just a few hours away from surrendering to the Cross of Calvary beginning the process of destroying all the works of the devil and restoring mankind to the place of God’s original intent. The first man (Adam) and woman (Eve) were place in the Garden of Eden and there was only blessing, no curse. In Christ Jesus, the last Adam, there is the potential, here in the earth, and of course in the life to follow, for the restoration of God’s original intent. In case you are not clear on God’s original intent it is for all blessing, no curse, all victory and no defeat. One may say, “Oh Dr. Wood that is pie in the sky, we can’t have that here only in Heaven. Really? Is that what your Bible teaches? Adam and Eve exercised their freewill, absolute authority, in the earth and choose another god, Satan (the Serpent). They choose to partake of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. What about you and me?
In our text we find Jesus addressing the Father. The Father has told Him that the hour is now for Him to pay the price of restoring the Kingdom of God. It is time for Jesus to make a Blood Covenant (marriage) proposal to all of mankind from the day of His Resurrection to the final day. Entrance into the Kingdom of God or even functioning in the fulness of the Kingdom of God is not automatic, we are required to choose. We each one of us must accept His proposal and drink of His cup. Seems like that would be a no brainer from my current perspective but like many of you I put off the call of the Holy Spirit way too many years.
Jesus starts to talk about being glorified, that the Father will glorify Him and He will glorify the Father. As I am sure you realize if you think about it, the surrender to the Cross and all that transpired until the Resurrection were at once awful beyond imagination and wonderful. Awful for I don’t know that our natural minds can take it all in. Wonderful for the sin problem, the curse was dealt with, the Blessing of Abraham, the Holy Spirit is back, the curse is way under our feet, and eternal life is restored. As I am writing this and thinking about the word ‘glorify’ and how to discuss it with clarity, I believe the Lord has directed me back to Moses.
Exodus 33:17-19 (KJV)
17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
I will pick up with much more of this tomorrow. Notice that when Moses asked to see the ‘glory’ of God, God said I will show you my goodness. The glory of God is the goodness of God, and as we will discuss, the glory or goodness of God is always good and always visible in the physical realm.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
