THE PROPHETIC VOICE – PART FOUR
DO PROPHETS WALK THE LAND – ARE THEY RELEVANT
Sunday – July 14, 2019, Tamuz 11, 5779
Another week has gone by already! Greetings and welcome back to this Bible Study of Prophets and the Words of the Prophet. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “like” and “share” buttons. I capitalize the word ‘Prophet’ because it is a proper name or title. I capitalize the word ‘Words’ because these are of Divine origin. I might ask for you all to ponder what the difference is between the Words spoken today by a Prophet and those spoken three thousand years ago by a Prophet? Hopefully the answer to this question is already crystal clear but if not, it will become clear in the writings (teachings) to come. Now, let’s turn our attention back to one of the Scriptures that I ended with last Sunday.
2 Chronicles 20:20 (KJV)
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
One might ask themselves if all of this Scripture is true, only part true, only true in a certain time-frame, or true for all time-frames. We know, at least I hope we know, that in order to enter Covenant with God in the Old or New Testament it required that we believe in Him. If one did not participate in the Feasts of the Lord and live according to the Laws of God, they were not considered a part of the congregation, the Kingdom of God, they were not saved if you will. In the New Testament we see this as part of what is commonly referred to part of the “Roman Road”.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
So, what about believing the Words of the Prophets of God that walk the earth today and prospering? Many of the Words of Scripture have their origin in the thoughts of the Father (Jehovah) and were spoken by the Word (Jesus) and whether honored or dishonored set our future course. The Words received, honored (highly valued), and obeyed bring the fulness of salvation (the Blessing) and disobedience brings the curse. I don’t know about you but I am making every effort to go with the Blessing. The Words of a modern Prophet will not conflict with the Words of ancient Prophets but the content will be of future events and specific to this time. However, all the while consistent with the nature and ways of God established over the millennia. My conclusion is that one ignores the voice of the Prophets at their own peril. Very valuable information for each of us to decree, and give thanks for may come from the Prophet specific to our lives, our family life, our community or nation. It can also be a source of praise which is a declaring with thanksgiving His capacity (God’s) to bring the thing decreed to pass. His people in right standing have to want the will of God to bring the will of God into the earth. They must decree the thing for it to be established for them personally and in the land.
Job 22:28 (KJV)
28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
The “light” is the Word of God. We look at the Word of God and we look at our path and make appropriate corrections or stay the course. We find the will of God, in the Word, from the mouth of the Prophet(s) and we decree it. In order for it to be performed we must be in right standing or have legal standing. The Word of God (Scripture) is our guide to right standing and maintaining right standing. The One who establishes the thing decreed is God but ONLY in response to our decree, our faith, our love, and our obedience to the leadership of the Spirit of God. As I move forward let’s examine the following Scripture.
1 Corinthians 12:27-29 (KJV)
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
Have any of my readers found the Scripture that all of this has come to an end with the death of the last Apostle? Based on the preceding Scripture we can conclude that so long as the Church (ekklēsia) is in the earth the people whom God has set in the Church (ordained) will be necessary to its proper function. You will notice that in terms of rank and authority in the Church the Apostle is first and the Prophet is second. You will notice that the ‘pastor’ is not on this list. That topic will be for another time. Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Sunday.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
