THE SON CONSECRATED FOR EVERMORE
Friday – December 22, 2017

Guess who has a birthday today? My sweet little chickadee, Patti Ann. Love you sweetheart, God will make this day beautiful. We are also on the cusp of celebrating Christmas. Christmas is a celebration of the Christ, a celebration of LOVE. It is fitting that we are studying the sacrifice, the Lamb of God, and His High Priestly role this season of the year. No sacrifice, no salvation. When this came up in the counsels of Heaven, if the Word had looked at Jehovah and the Holy Spirit and said: “you have got to be kidding” we either would never have been born or living in a hell headed to Hell. Thank you, Jesus. Now let’s dive right back into our wonderful and beautiful Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 7:26-28 (KJV)
26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
Yesterday we discussed how the priests of old were infirm but Jesus was never infirm and never will be infirm or have infirmity. The priest of old had to first offer sacrifice for themselves and then for the people due to their own weaknesses and sin. However, Jesus was without sin and therefore His sacrifice was not first for His sin and then ours, it was only for ours. The sacrifice of Jesus ratified The Blood Covenant and we are secure in Him forever and ever.
As we have studied in some detail the foreshadowing of an eternal High Priest came with the unveiling, the account of Melchisedec in Genesis chapter fourteen some four hundred plus years before the law. Then the oath came through the Prophet David well after the Law was given.
Psalm 110:1-4 (KJV)
1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.
4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
Our text from Hebrews 7:28 tells us that the Son has been consecrated for evermore. He is not going to die, become tired and look for another job, He is not going to retire, He is consecrated (set apart) as our High Priest forever. We have studied the following verses before but it is good for us to remind ourselves of their glory.
Hebrews 2:10-11 (KJV)
10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Notice these verses start off telling us that all things are for Him and all things are by Him as a part of this process of bringing many sons (you and me, male or female) to glory. It goes on to say that He is the Captain or author of our salvation through suffering. That suffering was putting up with being as other men and going to the Cross and all that followed until the Resurrection and restoration as God. We also have to consider that Jesus, the Word, is now in a bone and flesh body and He will suffer or put up with that forever. In the beginning we were not totally like God for God did not have a physical body of the earth however now God has a body, I suppose we can think of it as an intermediate link to the Father, the Holy Spirit. God became more like us so we could be more like Him.
Hebrews 5:8-10 (KJV)
8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
The Son, Jesus, The Word, is the author of eternal salvation. He is also our High Priest who eternally makes intercession for each of us and is consecrated (set apart) for evermore on our behalf. We are certainly a privileged and loved people.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (GW)
24 The LORD will bless you and watch over you.
25 The LORD will smile on you and be kind to you.
26 The LORD will look on you with favor and give you peace.’
