VETERANS DAY – AMERICA A COVENANT NATION

Greetings dear and wonderful children of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. Today is a little different since it is an important National Holiday which coincides with in my view a far more important day (signing of the Mayflower Compact at Plymouth Rock). Please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to bring the good news farther than we can reach alone. Today is Veterans Day, a day for us to remember and honor all who are serving or have ever served in the United States Armed forces. This is distinct from Memorial Day which honors those who not only served but died in that service. I salute all who have served honorably in our armed forces and I with hopefully all of our readers thank you with a grateful heart for your service.
Coinciding with this day is the signing of The Mayflower Compact on November 11, 1620. This is one of many documents putting us, America, in Covenant with God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The following is a portion of the text of this Covenant Document with Almighty God. This is as written at the time so blame the various apparent misspellings on them.
THE MAYFLOWER COMPACT – NOVEMBER 11, 1620
“In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereigne Lord, King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britaine, France and Ireland king, defender of the faith, etc. having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honour of our king and country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the
Northerne parts of Virginia, doe by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civill body politick, for our better ordering and preservation, and furtherance of the ends aforesaid;” (Bold added)
Before this in 1607 an expedition led by Pastor Robert Hunt arrived at Virginia Beach, planted a cross, and dedicated this land to the Lord Almighty. This is what they said: “We do hereby dedicate this Land, and ourselves, to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up Godly generations after us, and with these generations take the Kingdom of God to all the earth. May this Covenant of Dedication remain to all generations, as long as this earth remains…”
Following his first inaugural address April 30, 1789 President George Washington prayed the following; “Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that thou will incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of, subordination and obedience to government, and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow-citizens of the United States at large…”
These documents and many others establish the United States as a Covenant nation. Many doubt that we are one of only two Covenant nations upon the earth. The other, of course, is the nation of Israel, the Jewish (Hebrew) peoples. A major concern is that America or the United States does not appear in the entire text of the Bible. Well, let me point out, neither does your name. Yet, I suspect, you fully believe and know you are in Blood Covenant with God, in and through Christ Jesus. How does one enter Covenant with God? How did you enter this Covenant? You proclaimed Jesus as Lord and Savior, believed with your heart and confessed with your mouth. How did this nation at its founding enter into Covenant with God? The exact same way. I have shown many times this is written in the constitutions of forty-nine states, excepting Oregon.
Note the preambles for the States of Maine and Texas Constitutions.
PREAMBLE – Humbly invoking the blessings of Almighty God, the people of the State of Texas, do ordain and establish this Constitution.
PREAMBLE State of Maine – … We the people of Maine, in order to establish justice, insure tranquility, provide for our mutual defense, promote our common welfare, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of liberty, acknowledging with grateful hearts the goodness of the Sovereign Ruler of the Universe in affording us an opportunity, so favorable to the design; and, imploring God’s aid and direction in its accomplishment, …
Like it or not dear ones we are a Covenant Nation and as such have enjoyed many blessings. Our history is marked by much error and the judgments for same. Once again like Israel we have chosen a path of destruction however God will not make a full end of us and we will rise to show the glory of God before the final day. This will happen quickly, it will be a quick work, it must be, time is very short.
Lord willing, I will pick up tomorrow with our study of Isaiah. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
