KINGDOM OF GOD – PART EIGHT
PREACH REPENTANCE AND THE KINGDOM OF GOD
Video link: https://youtu.be/Cd8M6P7D6ks
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this vital Bible Study of the Kingdom of God. Jesus preached predominately the Kingdom of God/Heaven. The Kingdom of God and repentance was the message that John the Baptist preached as well.
Matthew 3:1-2 (KJV)
1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Then here comes Jesus at the very start of His earthly ministry immediately after being baptized in the River Jordan by John the Baptist.
Mark 1:14-15 (KJV)
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Jesus continued the same message that was given John the Baptist. Does this give us any insight into the importance of the message. Now, once again let’s review our anchor, Scripture.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Remember, there are no, none, zero, physical manifestations that do not have a spiritual root or origin. I keep saying this to reinforce that, Truth. All too many Christians view the spiritual realms and physical realms as being entirely separate. They are not! The spiritual gives rise to all in the physical be it good or bad. Let’s take a look at what Matthew records Jesus preaching immediately after His baptism by John the Baptist and being Anointed (filled with the Holy Spirit) for Ministry.
Matthew 4:17 (KJV)
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Jesus is calling people to repentance and is teaching them about the Kingdom of God, how it works by teaching and demonstration. Now, think about this. Who is Jesus speaking too. For the most part it is Jews and the ruling religious class. Jews of that time and now are brought up very aware and versed in the Torah. He is talking to those who call themselves Gods’ people. What about today? Isn’t it obvious that much of the body of Christ are not walking in the promises of God. The result has been a plethora of false doctrines to explain to lack of Kingdom manifestation in individual Christians and the Church at large. When the children of Israel didn’t enter the promised land God said it was due to unbelief, when the people in Nazareth were not healed when Jesus came it was attributed to unbelief.
Hebrews 3:19 (KJV)
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
Now Jesus.
Matthew 13:57-58 (KJV)
57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
It looks like honor and faith, lack of honor and unbelief are intertwined. Look at Mark’s account of the same event.
Mark 6:4-6 (KJV)
4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Notice in Hebrews that they could not enter due to unbelief and Jesus could not heal due to unbelief. Are we different?
TAKE HOME:
- Jesus preached repentance and the Kingdom of God.
- Honor and unbelief are intertwined.
1 Samuel 2:30 (KJV)
Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
- Wherever there is unbelief, absence of faith, there will not be a manifestation of God and remember that fear is a lack of faith in God but rather the problem.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here with our study of the Kingdom of God next Saturday. The Lord is good, He is not the source of our problems, and He cannot lie! God loves you; we love you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
