THROUGH FAITH
Monday – April 9, 2018, Nisan 24, 5778
Greetings and welcome back to this faith building Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. As you will recall we are now entering what is commonly called the “faith chapter” of the Bible. Of course, faith is on display and taught throughout the Bible. Faith is the only thing that pleases God and faith is the only thing that moves the Hand of God. Faith does not further the Kingdom of God however unless it is activated, energized, brought into play by love, Bible love, the same love that God is. All things are by faith and whatever is not of faith is sin. Let’s go ahead and read our primary text aloud and then dive into our study.
Hebrews 11:1-4 (KJV)
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
When I left off last Friday I was talking about verse three. This Scripture makes clear about the origin of the current “worlds”. This physical world, the heavens, the galaxies and so on originated in the mind of God, God spoke in faith, and the Holy Spirit created all that we can see from the unseen (unmeasurable by physical means) elements of Heaven. The spirit realm, Heaven and Hell are not imaginary or ethereal in nature but as real as our surroundings at this very moment. When comparing the seen with the unseen I believe Scripture is talking about the created things of this physical realm and the created things of the spiritual realm. The created things of the spiritual realm are just as real and tangible as we perceive the things of this physical realm including the earth. The physical (seen) and spiritual (unseen) things are two separate realities and the most sophisticated tools of this physical cannot detect or measure in any way the spiritual (unseen realm). You and I are creatures of both realms and operate in both realms. Our words are spiritual and determine the course of our lives both spiritual and physical and other people’s lives whether that be good or bad.
When Adam sinned, there was the beginning of serious corruption of the physical body and all physical things around us. Of course, sin is devastating spiritually then and now. Whether saint or sinner the spiritual realm dominates the physical. Adam before sin had no problem with seeing and operating in the spiritual and physical realms with equal efficiency. He was able to commune with God as we would with a friend. After all, think about the interaction with the Serpent. Contrary to what is perpetuated in Church Lore, Satan (Serpent) was not a physical snake or inhabiting a physical snake. At that time and now he was and is a spiritual personality, a spiritual being. Satan who was called Lucifer before he sinned (Ezekiel 28:15) rebelling against God had a covering of every precious stone (Ezekiel 28:13). That physical covering was eliminated when he was cast from Heaven to earth (Luke 10:18) with a third of the angels who followed him in the rebellion. Talk about dumb, but billions of people have done the same for millennia and even we ourselves for a season. He no doubt was an Archangel or one of the Cherubim which have an arching posture like a snake.
Now, let’s refocus on verse three and cement in our thinking that this is a Word created physical realm and a word-maintained realm. All that exits in this physical realm was created or brought into existence by the spoken Word of God. We also know that everything in this physical realm is being maintained by the Word of God. In this physical realm without continuous energy input things go in the direction of increasing chaos back to the foundational elements.

3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Our world (our personal world) is framed and maintained by our words which originate in our thoughts. That includes our finances, our health, and all other aspects of life here in the earth. God has a wonderful plan for everyone, thoughts that we can make our own, words we can make our own, resulting in an abundant life. If we want to change our lives into the wonderful plan of God we only have to adapt His thoughts and His Words.
All of this creation except for Adam originated in the mind of God and was spoken into being. Adam originated in the mind of God but his spirit man was of God, his life was of the Holy Spirit, and his physical body was immortal taken from the earth. When we think about it, even our physical man is of the spirit realm (reality) since when God spoke the unseen became seen, that being the earth. That earth was uncorrupted by sin when God made Adam’s body but that all changed on the Day of Sin and Death. In that day Adam could operate like Jesus after the Resurrection moving in a moments time from place to place or not needing to use doors or windows. As we look back at Hebrews 1:3 remember that the word “things” can be interpreted as “words”. He is watching over our words whether they be good or bad and insures that the Laws of the Spirit and the Laws of the Physical are maintained. Everything in our current world, I am talking about out personal world as well as the greater world is the result of our thoughts and words that are spoken in faith. This is very sobering if we think about it and it should be! Holy Scripture sealed by the Blood of Jesus tells us that nothing is impossible to us and that nothing can by any means harm us.
