This is Wheelock Church or Wheelock Mission Church in Millerton, Oklahoma built in 1846. It is said to be the oldest surviving church building among the Choctaw nation. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) As you know on Fridays I remind us all to pray for the Church of Jesus Christ. We must Awake, repent of wickedness, Arise, tearing down our other gods, then walk in the Triumph of Calvary. Now, back to our text in Colossians.
Colossians 2:1-3 (KJV)
1 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
In his letter to the saints and faithful brethren at Colossae and Laodicea Paul tells them he is locked in Spiritual battle with their enemies. His prayer is that they will have a commonality of thought with regard to love, that abundance of all kinds will flow in their lives as they have full confidence in the clear, exact, motivating, and life changing knowledge, which is the knowledge of the mystery of God, the Father and the Christ. Then in verse three he says that in Them (the Godhead) are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. The phrase in verse two above; “the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ” I believe is referring to God the Father (God), Jesus (the Father), and the Holy Spirit (Christ). In them, in the Godhead, are hid for us all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. When we have the clear and exact knowledge of our God, the burning of His Word within, and that life changing knowledge of God we will then have full access to how all things operate in the spiritual and physical realms. The word for knowledge in verse two is a higher level than referred to in verse three. The verse three knowledge is a present and fragmentary knowledge whereas the knowledge of verse two is a clear and exact knowledge that motivates and changes one’s life. It is reported that Einstein would talk to God about the nature of the universe, how it all worked talking of the fabric of space and time and postulating gravitational waves which have just now been proven one hundred years later. The lesson here is that the better we know God, the more we will know about what is going on around us, the more we can operate successfully in those spiritual and physical realities therefore the better we can operate in the dominion and power given us in this earth and as a witness for the world.
God is good, God is great.
