GIFTS – PART SIXTY
THE ARMOR OF GOD – PART TWO
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Greetings and welcome to all who join this Friday Bible Study titled “Gifts” focused and will continue for several weeks on The Armor of God. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry the teaching of Truth. The end of the year is upon us and we invite you to consider this Ministry as part of your year-end giving and joining yourself to this Ministry as a partner. The difference between a friend to this ministry and a partner with this Ministry is that a partner contributes financially. In that way we pray for you daily and you become a partaker of our Grace.
Philippians 1:7 (KJV)
7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. (Bold added)
When we go back a few verses in Philippians we find the Apostle Paul is talking about partnership. If we are benefiting you on a spiritual level, you have an obligation to share with us in the carnal things.
1 Corinthians 9:11 (KJV)
11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
Let’s take a look at this in two other translations. Be led of the Lord in this and in all things. See the Amplified translation.
1 Corinthians 9:11 (AMP)
11 If we have sown [the seed of] spiritual good among you, [is it too] much if we reap from your material benefits?
Finally, see the New Living Translation.
1 Corinthians 9:11 (NLT)
11 Since we have planted spiritual seed among you, aren’t we entitled to a harvest of physical food and drink?
12 If you support others who preach to you, shouldn’t we have an even greater right to be supported? But we have never used this right. We would rather put up with anything than be an obstacle to the Good News about Christ.
Merry Christmas to one and all, for unto us a child has been born, a Savior!
Isaiah 9:6-7 (KJV)
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Luke 2:11 (KJV)
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Donna and I certainly wish everyone a joyous Christmas. The meaning of the word “Christmas” is celebration of the Christ, the Messiah. Please don’t take your focus off the reason for the Holiday. This holiday is not primarily for gifts, family, food, football, or whatever else people do but to commemorate and observe the coming of our Savior, our Messiah, Christ the Lord. Yes, enjoy the gifts, family, the special foods, games and so on but those things are not the reason this day is on the calendar.
Now, for just a bit let’s turn our attention to the topic of this Friday Bible Study, the armor of God. As you will recall I have gone all the way back into the fifth chapter of Ephesians so as to set the use of this armor in proper context. Like any equipment, spiritual or physical, the more we know about it and the context in which it is to be used the more effectively we will use it. Last week we discovered that obedience, honor, and a purposeful love (agape) walk is essential to the effective use of the armor of God. Chapter six of Ephesians starts with telling children to obey and honor their parents. I wonder if there is anyone, we adults are to obey, honor, and walk in love (agape) with? Of course, there is!
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday, New Years Day.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
