AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH
Monday – December 28, 2020, Tevet 13, 5781
IT IS FINISHED

Greetings dear and precious saints of God as we enter the last week of 2020. Welcome back to this wonderful and powerful study of the Book of John. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry and the Truth. The featured picture today was taken some years ago by a game camera on the ranch in Texas. It is a beautiful white dove coming in to drink at a tank. Now to our study. Jesus is on the cross and in fifty days the Holy Spirit (symbolized by a white dove) is returning to the earth, to each who will receive Him.
I don’t know about you but it seems that this year has raced by and here we are with just a few days to the start of 2021. Let’s each of us think back over 2020 and examine how we have spent the year. Have we redeemed the time, made the best use of the time, or have we engaged in complaining about COVID-19 and other acts of defiance? Have you thought about the idea that this pestilence is of the curse, of the devil, and that God, the One in each of us Christians is way more powerful and smarter than the demons? Our Heavenly Father is not the source of Corona Virus but He is using it to separate the men from the boys for sure, and to get us out of our comfy boxes.
One more thing before we dive into our study of the Book of John. The Lord has brought to my attention how the devil has over time brought about changes in the meaning of words in common usage. For example, the word Church. Originally the word ‘Church’ referred to the body of Christ in the earth (and Heaven). However, over time it has come to be commonly used as the building within which believers (and others) gather. This is a perversion of language and not of God. It would be best for us to refer to the building in which we meet, not as the ‘Church’, but by the name given it, and reserve the use of the word ‘Church’ for when we are referring to any given body of believers. Think on it in the context of this Pandemic and common cries heard from believers. I don’t think this is as nitpicky as one might be thinking. This subtle perversion of thought works to further the kingdom of darkness and not the Kingdom of Light. Now let’s turn to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 19:30-37 (KJV)
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
As you are well aware Jesus is on the Cross, our debt is being paid, and His last utterance in the natural realm until the Resurrection was “it is finished”. More on this in a moment but first back to verse twenty-eight.
John 19:28 (KJV)
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
The awareness of Jesus on the Cross in the moments before His Spiritual and physical death is quite extraordinary. Think about it. Jesus is in excruciating pain and His lungs are filling with fluids such that every breath is a great struggle yet He remains cognizant to say “I thirst” and fulfil Scripture.
Psalm 69:21 (KJV)
21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
Can we see ourselves doing this? We are not going to be called upon by God to do this but we are called, commanded of God to do as Jesus did and greater. In order to do the command of God (John 14:12) we will be in a place where we could do what Jesus did on the Cross as well. We have some work to do dear saints.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
