AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

TO EASE AND AVENGE
Greetings precious Blood purchased children and sons of God and welcome back to this illuminating, thought provoking, and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible. This is all great, very good, news. The featured picture today is from our wedding over two years ago but the joy remains. A few days before writing the four days of The Three Minute Word for this week the Lord brought my attention to the following verses to discuss briefly.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
This is an extraordinarily powerful passage. We could talk about these three verses at great length. I believe there are a few points the Lord wants me to bring forward before we move into the Isaiah text. I sure hope each of you have enjoyed and profited from the last three days of discussing the 2nd Peter passage for it is extraordinarily illuminating. We find the word “Whereby” starting the fourth verse. What does it mean? Whereby means – by, through, or in accordance with which. So, how is Grace and peace multiplied unto us, and what activates His Divine power to give us all things that pertain to life and godliness, resulting in glory and virtue (excellence) being present in our lives? Knowledge, revelation knowledge, of God and of Jesus our Lord. When did you hear that preached last? Let’s move forward. As a result of all this we reap the great and precious promises of God.
Dear ones we already have a divine nature from the creation and our recreation but not many are partakers or are enjoying, walking in, that divine nature. Carefully review Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 2:7, Psalm 82, and John 10:34-35. We who are born again have the divine nature of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Partaking in that divine nature however is directly dependent upon our knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, and acting upon that knowledge. Now, let’s return to our text from the Book of Isaiah and continue reading out loud.
Isaiah 1:24-26 (KJV)
24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
As we arrive at verse twenty-four, we find the Lord saying He will ease Himself of His adversaries, and avenge His mine enemies. Who are God’s adversaries and enemies (same as ours)? These are the demonic forces that deceive and play a critical role in God’s people going into sin and bondage. God does not do that directly either then or now, He does it through His people, through their obedience to Him. God does nothing independent of His people. Since God passed all authority in the earth to mankind at the creation it would be a violation of His Word to do anything independent of a man giving permission in the earth. I know that ruffles religious feathers the wrong way but it is clear if you read and believe what Scripture says.
When God’s people are willing and obedient to the things of God (verse 19) the Lord is able with His Holy Spirit (Power) purge away our dross and take away our tin replacing it with pure silver and gold. Dross represents the impurities (sins) in our lives and tin represents the cheap substitutes for the real like our traditions. Are we ready to have the dross taken out of our lives? Are we ready to do the Word of God, the works Jesus did and the greater works, in place of our powerless traditions? Our obedience opens the door for the Lord to cleanse us, to teach us. Reflect back on the 2nd Peter text we have been studying concomitantly with our Isaiah text this week.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;

26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
