FROM THE PROPHETS CHAMBER – WEEK THIRTY-NINE
WHAT ABOUT HALLOWEEN?
Greetings dear and precious saints of God from Eastern Gate Ministries International, and welcome to “From the Prophets Chamber, a part of The Three Minute Word daily blog. Before we move forward, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to expand the reach of the good news. As I am sure, we all know tomorrow is Halloween. You would not think that anyone born again, especially if they are filled with the Holy Spirit would need teaching concerning Halloween. Unfortunately, the Church and individual Christians have come to what they call an alternative to Halloween which in fact is compromise with darkness. Let me say right off the bat, and this is really the bottom line, believers in Jesus Christ should have no part in Halloween. Look at the symbols and things done to celebrate fear, witches, demons, death, and darkness.
Ephesians 5:11 (KJV)
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
What about the whole idea of “Trick or Treat”? Does this strike you as a Christian, Bible idea? The following is an excerpt from a well-researched article by Tony Spearing and available at City of Refuge Christian Center, San Antonio, Texas. “The Druids had certain dietary restrictions and went around the community, knocking on the doors of houses, demanding these peculiar foods from the people. If they were unable to give them, the Druids invoked a curse on that household of death, sickness, disaster, etc. History records that these curses were very effective and at least one person of that house usually died within the next 12 months. It does not take much intelligence to very quickly discover what the present day “game” of ‘Trick or Treat’ represents. Only it is not a game – it is an exact replay of what happened in the name of satan thousands of years ago.”

Cursory research suggests that the origins of Halloween are pagan, satanic, in nature. Just as a side-note that I hope you understand, if it is not of God, in Holy Scripture, it is of the devil, period. There is no ground, no place, that is not God and not the devils. It appears that this celebration of all things dark started about 300 years before Christ by the Celtic people in England and Europe by a satanic cult known as the Druids. This festival was strictly forbidden by our Pilgrim forefathers due to its satanic origins. However, as more immigrants came to our shores this Festival of Samhain crept into the culture. The Druids worshipped many gods but the most prominent was Samhain. The etymology of the word ‘Halloween’ dates to about 1745 and is of Christian origin. The word “Hallowe’en” means “hallowed evening” or “holy evening”. This was a holiday to celebrate and commemorate the saints and martyrs of the Church much like we celebrate Memorial Day to commemorate those who have died defending the United States of America. The Pope in about the 9th Century wanted to guide people away from this satanic festival but as we can see it has failed miserably. There are certain things that should be totally repudiated and have no part in a Christians thinking or home.
Wikipedia also had the following information about the origin of the folklore giving rise to the Jack-O-Lantern. “On route home after a night’s drinking, Jack encounters the Devil and tricks him into climbing a tree. A quick-thinking Jack etches the sign of the cross into the bark, thus trapping the Devil. Jack strikes a bargain that Satan can never claim his soul. After a life of sin, drink, and mendacity, Jack is refused entry to heaven when he dies. Keeping his promise, the Devil refuses to let Jack into hell and throws a live coal straight from the fires of hell at him. It was a cold night, so Jack places the coal in a hollowed-out turnip to stop it from going out, since which time Jack and his lantern have been roaming looking for a place to rest.” Link – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween
Let me reiterate, Christians have no business participating in Halloween other than educating themselves and their children as to why this is an evil holiday.
