BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU TAKE

Greetings to all and welcome back to our Bible Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment to share this teaching by any means at your disposal to expand our reach with the Truth. Your sharing is important to us but infinitely more important to the Kingdom of God and your treasure in Heaven. The featured picture is to depict the Prophet Isaiah. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 16:6 (GW)
6 We’ve heard of the arrogance of Moab’s people. They are very arrogant. We’ve heard of their boasting, arrogance, and conceit, but their boasts aren’t true.
Moab’s sin was pride and brought the judgment of God. However, as we see in verse fourteen below, God gave them, gives us all, ample time to repent. Occasionally repentance comes as when Jonah warned Nineveh but mostly repentance does not come. We have seen this over and over in Scripture even in our study of Isaiah. Now, let’s continue to read to the end of this sixteenth chapter of Isaiah.
Isaiah 16:10-14 (GW)
10 Joy and delight have vanished from the orchards. No songs are sung. No shouts are raised. No one stomps on grapes in the winepresses, because I have put an end to the shouts of joy.
11 That is why my heart mourns for Moab like a harp. My soul mourns for Kir Hareseth.
12 When the people of Moab appear at the worship site, they will only wear themselves out. They will come into the holy place to pray, but they won’t be able to.
13 This is the message that the LORD spoke about Moab in the past.
14 But now the LORD says, “Moab’s honor will be despised within three years. I will count them like workers count the years left of their contracts. In spite of their great number, the survivors will be very few and powerless.”
Yesterday I talked at some length (very brief) about pride and arrogance. Pride and arrogance are initially thoughts brought to the person, then are taken, and then identify the person. People are not born with pride and arrogance. Again, let’s review the following Words of Jesus together.
Mark 7:18-23 (GW)
18 Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand? Don’t you know that whatever goes into a person from the outside can’t make him unclean?
19 It doesn’t go into his thoughts but into his stomach and then into a toilet.” (By saying this, Jesus declared all foods acceptable.)
20 He continued, “It’s what comes out of a person that makes him unclean.
21 Evil thoughts, sexual sins, stealing, murder,
22 adultery, greed, wickedness, cheating, shameless lust, envy, cursing, arrogance, and foolishness come from within a person.
23 All these evils come from within and make a person unclean.”
Kenneth E. Hagen reportedly said that we can’t prevent birds from flying over our heads but we can prevent them from making a nest in our hair. Various thoughts will come, good, bad, and ugly, but we do not have to take them. We can take the good, the God idea, and cast out the rest. Let’s see, hear, what Jesus has to say. (You are reading out loud, right?)
Matthew 6:31-33 (KJV)
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
You see that the taking of a thought precedes the saying of the thought. Jesus tells up not take these anxious fearful thoughts at all period. They are lies of the enemy. We are to stay focused on the Kingdom of God and Gods’ way of doing which is righteousness, peace, and joy (Romans 14:17). Avoid pride and arrogance of any kind, don’t even us the word saying “I am proud of this or that or this person or that one”. Instead say that you are pleased just as the Father did about Jesus when He spoke from Heaven (Matthew 3:17).
Lord willing, I will pick up with chapter 17 tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
