GOOD PEOPLE GIVE GENEROUSLY

Greeting dear and precious children of God and welcome back to our study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. What a stimulating prophetic and Messianic Book. God is so good to give us His thoughts, no guessing games, it is clear if one will but look, as to what brings Heaven to earth. One might say “oh brother Wood that’s not necessary, we are stuck with this terrible here and now”. Really? That will be a great surprise to the Author of the Bible. Let’s look at just one brief passage.
Matthew 6:9-12 (HCSB)
9 “Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy.
10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Bold added)
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
Did Jesus command us to pray something we can never walk in here in the earth? Why is this not common among the children of God? It is not taught in our meetings and the children of God don’t believe it, instead believing it is only for the hereafter. Please take a moment and share this teaching by every means at your disposal as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at The County Line, one of our favorite BBQ spots. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 32:8-15 (TLB)
8 But good men will be generous to others and will be blessed of God for all they do.
9 Listen, you women who loll around in lazy ease; listen to me and I will tell you your reward:
10 In a short time—in just a little more than a year—suddenly you’ll care, O careless ones. For the crops of fruit will fail; the harvest will not take place.
11 Tremble, O women of ease; throw off your unconcern. Strip off your pretty clothes—wear sackcloth for your grief.
12 Beat your breasts in sorrow for those bountiful farms of yours that will soon be gone, and for those fruitful vines of other years.
13 For your lands will thrive with thorns and briars; your joyous homes and happy cities will be gone.
14 Palaces and mansions will all be deserted, the crowded cities empty. Wild herds of donkeys and goats will graze upon the mountains where the watchtowers are,
15 until at last the Spirit is poured down on us from heaven. Then once again enormous crops will come.
Our text tells us that good men are generous and in turn are blessed of God! Are you generous, am I generous? Have we heard this anywhere else?
2 Corinthians 9:8-10 (TLB)
8 God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others.
9 It is as the Scriptures say: “The godly man gives generously to the poor. His good deeds will be an honor to him forever.”
10 For God, who gives seed to the farmer to plant, and later on good crops to harvest and eat, will give you more and more seed to plant and will make it grow so that you can give away more and more fruit from your harvest.
I don’t know about you, but there are few things in life that thrill me anymore than being a real help to another person. God is pleased with this. Some are not generous for they are in fear about their finances. It starts with our attitude towards God, not tithing and not sowing into the Kingdom generously and in faith powered of love. Consider the following verses as we end for today, this week.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (TLB)
6 But remember this—if you give little, you will get little. A farmer who plants just a few seeds will get only a small crop, but if he plants much, he will reap much.
7 Everyone must make up his own mind as to how much he should give. Don’t force anyone to give more than he really wants to, for cheerful givers are the ones God prizes.
I can’t speak for you but I want to be prized by God.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
