A WELL OF TRUTH
HIS HIGH CALLING

Greetings precious children of God and welcome back to A Well of Truth. Today I will be talking about “His High Calling”. The Holy Spirit of God will bring forward what we need for today. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. Together we are doing our part to take this gospel not only locally but into all the world. Thank you for sharing. You who share are vital to the Kingdom of God and to this Ministry. As I prayed recently, the Lord highlighted the following Scriptures in my thinking, first Philippians and then Ephesians. We will explore the phrase regarding the call of God in both passages briefly. Now, let’s continuing to read out loud.
Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Bold added)
Ephesians 1:18 (KJV)
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (Bold added)
In the first passage we see “the prize of the high calling of God” and in the second “the hope of his calling”. Even though the word ‘high’ does not appear in this phrase we know that the call of God is always one to come higher and as we continue reading in Ephesians, we find the phrase “Far above”. Far above what? Now let’s go back to our Philippians text and explore it and the context in which it is found. We find that we are called into righteousness through faith in Christ. This righteousness is instantaneous with salvation. This righteousness is not only right standing with God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) but we are then in Christ Jesus. The Father never again sees us apart from Christ. The Father sees us as He sees Christ. Also, we are in a position to learn and do things Gods’ way, led of the Holy Spirit.
That is not all, we now, in Christ, are in line to attain the resurrection from the dead just like Jesus. Resurrection from the dead is different than being raised from the dead. One who is raised like Lazarus in Scripture will die (physically) again. One who is resurrected from the dead receives a glorified body like that of Christ and cannot die again. We also see that coming into the “high calling of God” is not attained by those focused on the past, but is for those focused on the what is ahead, the call of God for their life. This third chapter of Philippians ends telling to not focus on earthly, carnal things, but on Heavenly things for our citizenship is in Heaven. The end of the chapter is as follows.
Philippians 3:21 (KJV)
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Is any of this of interest to you? As we switch our focus to the Ephesians passage let us be reminded that this call is an invitation first into relationship and the Kingdom and then all the good things of the Kingdom. These things do not just drop on us we must attain them by faith, we command or requisition them into our lives. No we don’t beg, ask for, roll around on the floor crying out to God but as sons of the Kingdom we command or requisition whatever is necessary for this natural life (secondary) and our spiritual life (primary). In case some have gotten a bunch in your pants consider the following passage from the Bible.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
As we meditate upon this, I will end for today. Lord willing, I will have another fresh Word from the Throne next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
