HOW HORRIBLE IT IS FOR REBELLIOUS CHILDREN

Greeting dear and precious children of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog and our ongoing teachings from the wonderful Book of Isaiah. The featured picture was taken in Maine some years ago. I’m using winter pictures this week just to remind our readers in Maine what is just ahead. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you to expand our reach with the good news, revelation for our time. Thank you for sharing. You are a vital part of this Ministry, more importantly of the Kingdom of God. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in Isaiah reading out loud. Today I am presenting our Scripture text in the Gods Word translation.
Isaiah 30:1-5 (GW)
1 The LORD declares, “How horrible it will be for those rebellious children. They carry out plans, but not mine. They make alliances against my will. They pile sin on top of sin.
2 They go to Egypt without asking me. They look for shelter under Pharaoh’s protection and look for refuge in Egypt’s shadow.
3 But Pharaoh’s protection will be their shame, and the refuge in Egypt’s shadow will be their disgrace.
4 Although Pharaoh’s officials are in Zoan and his messengers have reached Hanes,
5 the people of Judah will be put to shame because that nation can’t help them. That nation can’t give aid or help to them. It can only offer shame and disgrace.”
God has been talking for some thirty chapters now through His Prophet to His people, who have once again turned away from Him and gone their own way. How often have you, have I, gone our own way only to find out that we were not as smart as we presumed? Think about it, God did not just say “that’s it” and bam destruction was allowed but has been explaining and warning over a protracted period of time. In God there is nothing but upside, outside of Him there is nothing but downside. Oh, it may look good at the outset even for a season but the thief (devil) comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. Review Deuteronomy the 28th chapter again. His people Israel is once again in our text turning to the arm of the flesh which in the end offers nothing. Why do we turn here, there, and everywhere, but to the One who loves us and has an abundance of good answers? The world does not have our answers, only God has our answers. We have studied this before. Once again let’s look at a familiar (I hope) verse in Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 17:5 (GW)
5 “This is what the LORD says: Cursed is the person who trusts humans, who makes flesh and blood his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD.
God says we bring the curse upon ourselves when we trust in other people and not Him. When will we smarten up? Let us examine, judge our own hearts today before the Lord and ask Him to show us where our hearts have turned away from Him. Let us remind ourselves that an unrenewed mind is deceitful above all and we may not detect the deception.
Jeremiah 17:9-10 (GW)
9 “The human mind is the most deceitful of all things. It is incurable. No one can understand how deceitful it is.
10 I, the LORD, search minds and test hearts. I will reward each person for what he has done. I will reward him for the results of his actions.
Let us renew our minds day by day displacing all deceptions of the enemy and replacing them with the Word of God. Let us then with the help of the Helper do all we are commanded, Jesus assured us it was not hard.
Deuteronomy 28:14-15 (GW)
14 Do everything I’m commanding you today. Never worship other gods or serve them.
15 Obey the LORD your God, and faithfully follow all his commands and laws that I am giving you today. If you don’t, all these curses will come to you and stay close to you:
Matthew 11:28-30 (GW)
28 “Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.
29 Place my yoke over your shoulders, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble. Then you will find rest for yourselves
30 because my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
If our yoke is hard and/or our burden heavy it is not of the Lord. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
