HE DOES NOT CRY OUT

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to our illuminating Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. This study is illuminating because of our Helper, our Teacher, the Holy Spirit and not because of me, it is because of Him. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. You are an important part of the Kingdom of God and this Ministry. We are also thankful for our partners in this Ministry and their role in expanding the Kingdom of God and sharing in our Grace. Please consider becoming a partner if you are not one already, but only as led of the Lord. Now, don’t forget to be reading out loud, faith comes by hearing, hearing the Word of God. The featured picture today was taken at the County Line one of our favorite places in San Antonio to eat (BBQ).
We must come out of the darkness that is so pervasive in our Churches and come fully awake in who we are in Christ Jesus and act. The traditions of men, the doctrines of demons are celebrated in the pulpit and pew alike, this must not be. Let us prove all that we know or think we know, that we think is the Truth. Our sanctuaries are darkened and appear little different from a nightclub or rock concert. Who have we become? Let us find and speak only the Truth. Let us be diligent to receive, believe, and implement only Truth in our lives. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but all that we hear in our respective Churches is not all Truth. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 42:1-4 (NJB)
1 Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom my soul delights. I have sent my spirit upon him, he will bring fair judgement to the nations.
2 He does not cry out or raise his voice, his voice is not heard in the street;
3 he does not break the crushed reed or snuff the faltering wick. Faithfully he presents fair judgement;
4 he will not grow faint, he will not be crushed until he has established fair judgement on earth, and the coasts and islands are waiting for his instruction.
Verse one of our text starts a Messianic discussion, as I pointed out earlier this week this is written in the present tense however the first coming of Christ is still some 700 years away in time. God is not in time. God is not in time and neither should we be overly focused on time other than to redeem the time (make the best use of) we have in this life. As we move into the second verse of our text, we get a glimpse of the Cross. We are told that He did not cry out and indeed if one reviews the Scriptures reporting on the Cross you find only one instance when He may have raised His voice. That one time is when He was made sin in our stead and was separated from the Father for the first and only time in eternity. Now, we will move forward into verse three. Dear ones we have a merciful and gentle Savior, look at the Message Bible.
Isaiah 42:3 (MSG)
3 He won’t brush aside the bruised and the hurt and he won’t disregard the small and insignificant, but he’ll steadily and firmly set things right.
See if you can’t see echoes of this in what Jesus Himself read from the Scroll at the Synagogue in Nazareth.
Luke 4:17-19 (MSG)
17 he was handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written,
18 God’s Spirit is on me; he’s chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, To set the burdened and battered free,
19 to announce, “This is God’s year to act!”
O again I say, what a Savior! Our text tells us that this coming Messiah will not be deterred until the job is done, the works of Satan are obliterated and justice returns to the earth. Many see Jesus’ word on the Cross as being the point at which all that was needed was finished however I do not see that as the case. Without the Resurrection we would have nothing.
John 19:30 (KJV)
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
His words here signify that His work as a man in the earth is finished but the purchase of salvation for all, the return of justice is fifty days away. It is now in the Hand of His Father, and the Word spoken through the ages which He spoke in the ears of the Prophets and He spoke in His earthly Ministry in the earth. He said He was authorized of the Father to lay down His life and to take it up again and so He did. Justice (the Father) declared Him innocent and all mankind with Him if they would receive Him as Savior. Salvation is in and through Him not independent of Him, the Christ. Jesus paid the price of all sin except rejecting Him on the Cross and in Hell. He paid a debt He didn’t owe. Thank you, Lord Jesus. He went on to preach to the captives in the Bosom of Abraham (Old Testament saints) and led them to Heaven at His own Resurrection. He took His Blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven. He gave authority (dominion) and Power (Blessing) back to mankind and was then seated at the Right Hand of the Father. Then it was indeed finished!
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
