Greetings dear and precious people of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. I will be continuing with our study of the Book of Isaiah as part of this teaching and pick up next week after Thanksgiving. What a wonderful time of year. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means possible at your disposal. Thank you for sharing. Those of you who are not sharing, ask the Lord if He would have you to share. The featured picture today is John Fitzgerald Kennedys’ motorcade on that fateful day in Dallas Texas when the world stood still. This tragedy took place 60 years ago on November 22nd 1963. I still remember where I was when I first heard that a President had been murdered. Again, this serves as a reminder for us to pray for those in authority at every level across America. Not for their destruction but for their wisdom in righteousness to guide this Covenant nation.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
I do not believe the Lord is at all pleased when we pray for bad things concerning our leaders because we disagree with their platform. Remember Jesus died for all and God loves all and it is His will that none perish. All have ample time and clarity of vision to choose salvation. Without salvation our home is Hell forever and that is too awful for anyone. When the wicked come to office it is because in one way or another, we the Church have allowed it, so rather than anger, repentance is the order of the day.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and continue reading out loud.
Isaiah 47:7-10 (NIV)
7 You said, ‘I will continue forever– the eternal queen!’ But you did not consider these things or reflect on what might happen.
8 “Now then, listen, you wanton creature, lounging in your security and saying to yourself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children.’
9 Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single day: loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and all your potent spells.
10 You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me.’
As we move into verse eight can you hear the arrogant attitude that ignores reality, ignores God, and is a blatant expression of the cardinal sin, pride. Let’s consider the term “wanton creature”. Let’s explore this verse in the KJV and the NLT.
Isaiah 47:8 (KJV)
8 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
Isaiah 47:8 (NLT)
8 “Listen to this, you pleasure-loving kingdom, living at ease and feeling secure. You say, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other. I will never be a widow or lose my children.’
Do we know this smug person, is it us? Do we deny any of this with declarations of false humility?
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day here in America, so there is a special edition of The Three Minute Word. Lord willing, I will pick up with our Isaiah study next Monday the 27th of November.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
PRAYERS AND QUESTIONS – please contact us and we will respond. Our goal is to build a solid foundation upon which children of God can become sons of God, stand and do exploits in Jesus’ name.
PARTNERSHIP AND GIVING – Those of you who are not Partners of this Ministry and you find this ministry to be of value to you and perhaps others with whom you share it, we ask you to consider becoming Partners.
