JUDE – PART TWENTY-SEVEN
Greetings precious saints of God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel. Welcome back to this enlightening and thought-provoking study of the Book of Jude. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. You are a blessing to the Kingdom of God, this Ministry, as well as Donna and me individually. It blesses us to see that you value these teaching enough to share.
This Bible Book of Jude speaks to faith and disbelief, even the controversial topic of backsliding (going from unsaved to saved then by choice back to unsaved). Nobody “loses” their salvation like one might lose some personal item. It is a conscious deliberate choice. Just as going from the kingdom of darkness to light was a choice, so is going back to the kingdom of darkness. Unfortunately, this idea of changing kingdoms is intertwined often with the idea of predestination. We are all predestined for the Kingdom of God but many either refuse to accept salvation or once saved choose to go back into darkness. I gave you several Scriptures last week on this topic. Perhaps the greatest problem with the doctrine of predestination is it violates the Law of Freewill.
Now, let’s turn to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why.
Jude 1:7-11 (KJV)
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
The Lord through His servant Jude is hitting sexual immorality especially hard. Any idea why? Do you see any of this around about us? Perversion is not just out in the open but we are being pressured to celebrate this great wickedness and laws are being passed to punish people who don’t fall in line with this great wickedness. Sins of all kinds revolve around three major things, sex, money, and power. God has dealt in part with great sexual immorality. This means any sexually activity that is not between a biological male and a biological female in a marriage covenant. Then God turns His attention to submission, humbling oneself, verses rebellion. Seen any rebellion lately? It seems to me that the following passage describes our time and unfortunately the time of man from the Garden of Eden. One has to recognize that God has mercy, and patience on steroids.
Psalm 2:1-4 (KJV)
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
This goes on in all seven spheres of our culture including the religion sphere. We hear it all around us, people have ideas about a better way than those in authority above them. I mentioned about sex, power, and money above and here it is about power. What many don’t realize is that submission, humbling oneself first under the Hand of God and then the people in our lives in authority over us gives us access to all the Power of God.
1 Peter 5:5-7 (KJV)
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Notice the phrase in verse five “giveth grace to the humble”? Who would want God Himself resisting them? Would we not rather that His Grace flow copiously in our lives?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. The Lord is good and He cannot lie!
