JUDE – PART FORTY-ONE
Video link: https://youtu.be/vtM5jsmsBrk
Greetings dear ones and welcome back to this instructive study of the Bible Book of Jude. Although this Book is short it is full of instruction for the wise.
Proverbs 9:9 (KJV)
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
The main purpose in the mind of Jude when he sat down to write this letter (Epistle) was to impress upon them and us the importance of “earnestly” contending for and adhering to the faith (the Truth we are to believe) as it was delivered to and for us from the beginning. He goes into some detail of the dangers of not clinging to the faith as it was once delivered. Now we come to a most encouraging part of this Book of Jude and Scripture in general. He is giving us insight how to maintain our faith as given in the beginning and how to help others.
Now, let’s pick up with our primary Bible text for today. Please continue to read out loud.
Jude 1:20-25 (KJV)
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
What a passage! Isn’t this just so encouraging and uplifting? Now the Apostle Jude contrasts those who have abandoned the most holy faith with those who have not, you and me dear ones. I don’t think it can be emphasized near enough that we must be very sure, very diligent to prove what we believe, what we are hearing. By prove I mean, is it the Word given from the beginning or some one’s perversion of the Truth. You have seen many times in these teachings over the years the admonition to be a good Berean.
Acts 17:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Who is our Teacher?
John 14:26 (KJV)
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Looking back at our primary Bible text verse twenty we see that we are encouraged to pray in tongues for this builds up our faith. We know that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. When we pray in tongues we don’t understand, until the Holy Spirit reveals the mystery, but our spirit understands. It is the Holy Spirit, who is God, that gives the Words, and it is we who provide the spoken voice. We have to say it voluntarily, He does not make us say anything whether it is in our native language or tongues. When we are speaking in tongues, our spirit man is hearing the Word of God and that is how our faith is built in those times.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. The Lord is good and He cannot lie!
