A REDEEMER HAS COME
Video link: https://youtu.be/3xy9t9ePQi0
Greetings dear and precious saints of the Most High God, brothers and sisters in Christ, and welcome back to our study of the marvelous Book of Isaiah. The featured picture today is of an old Church building in the State of Missouri. The purpose for this series of Church building pictures is to remind each one of us to pray for the Church (not the building), the body of Christ. Thank you for your introspection and your intercession. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 59:19-21 (NASB)
19 So they will fear the name of the LORD from the west And His glory from the rising of the sun, For He will come like a rushing stream Which the wind of the LORD drives.
20 “A Redeemer will come to Zion, And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” declares the LORD.
21 “As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from now and forever.”
O what a wonderful Bible Book! I am sure you recognize that these verses are Messianic in nature. Verse nineteen starts off telling us that the name of this coming One (now come) will be feared around the world. This name which we now know as Jesus will be feared by saint and sinner alike as well as the demons of darkness. The demons fear for they know He has all authority and we in the Messiah share in that authority. Every demon including Satan himself must bow at the name of Jesus in our faith filled mouth. The sinners fear for they don’t want it to be true for they want to go their own way. We the saints fear in great reverence for the wonderful things He has done just for us, those who will receive Him.
When Jesus came on the scene, He caused quite the stir especially after His Resurrection and the Church started spreading throughout the world. Perhaps you have heard it said that persecution is what caused the Church to scatter over the earth. You may have even heard that persecution is necessary to expand the Church. Persecution will be part and parcel of the obedient (to the Word of God) Christian’s life but it is because of the Word not to expand the Church. The devil’s objective of persecution is to drive the Church from the earth. The Church was to scatter over the earth in obedience to the command of God, of Christ. Listen to the Master.
Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB)
18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
This spreading of Christianity, of the Kingdom of God would be much like the ripples caused by a thrown rock on a pond. The wave of Christianity or the occupying of the Kingdom of God would radiate out from a certain point which could be a person or a Church and eventually fill the earth. Also, as in the first century A.D. there were to be those who were called of the Holy Spirit and sent out.
Acts 13:2-4 (KJV)
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
The one referred to in this passage as Saul is the one who became known as the Apostle Paul. They would establish the gospel, the Kingdom of God, in a distant place and from there the ripples would spread until there were many intersecting ripples in the earth. These are all raised up and driven by the wind of God, the Holy Spirit.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
