BETTER THAN ANGELS
Friday – June 9, 2017

Welcome back to our Bible Study at The Three Minute Word taken from the Book of Hebrews. God is good, if it is not good, it is not God. Let’s turn our attention to our primary text from this wonderful Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 1:3-4 (KJV)
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
We finished up yesterday marveling over the fact, the reality that not only is our Savior, Christ Jesus, seated at the right hand of Majesty on high but we are also. We are seated as kings however as a priest we stand to minister (intercede) on behalf of others and ourselves before the Father. We don’t have to wait for an invitation to approach the King of kings, He and the Father are always with and available to us. Scripture tells us to come boldly to the throne of Grace just as our natural and spiritual children should be free to boldly approach us.
Hebrews 4:15-16 (KJV)
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
We cannot only come to the throne of Grace when we are in trouble, when we have been successfully tempted, but we are encouraged to be in conversation (prayer) with our Father continually. On this thing of temptation, it should not be win some lose some, it should be win all the time. Jesus was without sin and so should we be without sin. Jesus said we could do what He did, He died to give us the Holy Spirit who empowers us, guides us, and teaches us second to second. Now back to our primary text.
Hebrews 1:4 (KJV)
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
As we will see more fully as I continue, we are watching the Father justly reward and restore the Son as God. Because of the work of Calvary, the defeat of every evil power in Hell (His innocent Blood and the Words of His testimony), the loosing of the captives in Abraham’s Bosom, the Resurrection, and the presentation of the Blood of man and of God to the mercy seat of Heaven ratifying The Blood Covenant initiated with Abraham, Jesus is given a very special place. Jesus is the head of the Church, He is restored as God, and He (and we in Him) is far above all angelic powers righteous or unrighteous.
Ephesians 1:20-23 (HCSB)
20 He demonstrated this ⌊power⌋ in the Messiah by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavens—
21 far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
22 And He put everything under His feet and appointed Him as head over everything for the church,
23 which is His body, the fullness of the One who fills all things in every way.
Notice that Jesus is the head of everything as it concerns the Church and that He is the head and the Church is the body making a whole. A head without a body is dead and a body without a head is dead. Notice everything is under “His feet” not under His head. The feet are in the body and thus everything is under us and not by just a little bit. These evil powers cannot just reach up and grab us by the ankles, we are far above them. Remember we are seated in Heaven at the right hand of Majesty on high in Christ Jesus and these evil personalities are confined to the earth and the immediate atmosphere. The same authority and power invested in Jesus is invested in us. Just as there is no foe that can stand before Jesus, He is God (God the Son), neither can they stand before or withstand us.
Philippians 2:6-11 (HCSB)
6 who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage.
7 Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form,
8 He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross.
9 For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow— of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth—
11 and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Thank you, Jesus!!! The phrasing of the preceding Scripture implies that every knee bowing and every tongue confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord is a future event which is not the case it is a now event. Back to our primary text and close for the week.
Hebrews 1:4 (KJV)
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
The Son, “hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.” The ‘they’ here is referring to angelic beings. In Hebrews 1:2 we learned that the Father has appointed His Son, Jesus, heir of all. Jesus is the first born from the dead and therefore entitled to the double portion. We are not the first born from the dead but are in Him and therefore share in the same inheritance. I spoke on May 31, 2017 about us as heirs and joint-heirs in Christ Jesus. The name Jesus is far above any angelic name, and we are also called by that name as the bride of Christ. We have His Power of Attorney to use that name and when we do all that is named (evil spirits, sickness, poverty) bows. He does all the work, we get all the benefits. Thank you so much Father, thank you so much Lord and Savior Jesus, thank you for leading and teaching me Holy Spirit.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
