GIVE THE MORE ERNEST HEED TO GOD

Greetings and welcome back to our Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. The picture above is of two beautiful rhododendron bushes between us and the golf course next door. Even in a fallen state (status post sin) there is so much beauty to enjoy and just think how this will pale compared to what we will see in Heaven, in the earth during the Millennial Reign, and the eternity to follow.
Before we delve into the Bible Study for today I want to make a point concerning America, the Church, and God. There is no doubt that our nation is far astray from our foundation. There were significant differences of opinion in the founding era and some even involved violence. Just think of the duel between Aaron Burr the Vice-President and Alexander Hamilton a former Secretary of the Treasury and very prominent founder (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burr%E2%80%93Hamilton_duel).
If you follow the preceding link you will see there was a deadlock of the Electoral College in the 1800 election resulting in the selection of Thomas Jefferson as President and Aaron Burr as Vice-President. Consider the Civil War when upwards of 750,000 died. America has survived many contentious and violent times. I have made the point before in my writings that at the bottom of all the rage from the left (incited by Satan) in government and in the public at large is a spiritual battle for or against righteousness.
God gave us three types of law; 1. Ceremonial or Sacrificial Law, 2. Civil Law, and 3. Moral Law. Since Calvary the Ceremonial Law is set aside however that is not to say we are to not be aware or forget it. Civil Law is more or less at the discretion of man so long as it does not violate Gods’ Moral Law. For example, changes in the speed limit would be part of Civil Law. Gods’ Moral Law on the other hand is a whole other thing, being eternal and immutable. This is where the spiritual battle is being waged. The reason the rhetoric and the violence have spiked is that we have come through a season when the devil and those whom he influences thought they were winning and destroying Gods’ Moral Law thereby making government and themselves gods. Violating Gods’ Moral Law opens the door for the devil to bring stealing, killing, and destroying into our lives and the life of the nation. America is a Covenant nation, in Covenant with the Almighty God, and the devil and his cohorts (spiritual and human) have been attempting to destroy America from the landing at Plymouth Rock. The Obama years particularly (but also the Clinton and Bush years) have driven the Church to a place spiritually where they have spoken with the authority and power given at Calvary to the Church and the devil sees the beginning of the end for him in America.
It is common to hear politicians and others say that we must cool down the political rhetoric however that is not the problem. We are not arguing passionately about whether is have a large federal government or small with most of the power with the states and the people, we are arguing about Gods’ Moral Law. We are in a spiritual battle for the lives of our unborn children, to stop the promotion and approval of the LGBT agenda in the government and other public spaces, and the removal of God from the process and ideas of government. Political discourse relates to the conduct of government (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/political). Other to enshrine and protect Gods’ Moral Law government at any level has no business in that arena. The violation of Gods’ Moral Law will always bring stealing, killing, and destroying into one’s personal life or the life of a nation. In this age of terrorism (the devil is the terrorist) and cries for safety and the expansion of massive agencies that routinely violate our privacy no one seems to understand that the only real source of safety is God and that means a return to righteousness for us individually and as a nation. A return to God and faithfully observing His Moral Law and recognizing Him as our source of all good things individually and as a nation will resolve the terrorism issue and many other issues in short order.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
This is the Word of the Lord concerning us all. I strongly encourage all of us to review our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of these United States and I think you will see that much of what is being done and argued about is not even a function of government according to these founding documents. I realize I have not gotten to our Bible Study in the Book of Hebrews but the Lord has placed what I have written strongly in my heart and I believe I have discharged my duty to Him in this writing. Before I end let’s look at our primary text from Hebrews and I will pick up there tomorrow Lord willing.
Hebrews 2:1-3 (KJV)
1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
If you have read the above passage thoughtfully I think you will readily see it is directly connected to what the Lord gave me to impart today.
