YOU OUGHT TO BE A TEACHER BY NOW
Wednesday – October 11, 2017

Is Jesus our Lord? Is He Lord of all things in our lives or just some things? Are there things we never bring up in prayer or search out in the Bible because we really don’t want to know His answer? The featured picture is of our sweet puppy Chancelot, taken at our Texas ranch in 2001. Now, let’s once again take a deep dive into this wonderful Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. I left off yesterday with verse eleven. We made a good faith effort to determine if we were dull of hearing and if so to repent which is to change our mind and agree with God. Let’s read and then pick up our discussion with verse twelve.
Hebrews 5:9-14 (KJV)
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
The human writer (conduit of the Holy Spirit) of Hebrews has just told the Hebrews of his day and us that there is much for him to say, much God wants to say but we are “dull of hearing”. This being dull of hearing is a choice, so we are uneducated, and therefore not functioning at an ever-increasing level in the Kingdom of God by choice. It is like having a kid who is now forty years old but has not progressed beyond learning the alphabet or counting to ten. Church of the living God let us choose to awake and take our place!! Our text is telling us that we ought to be teaching others at this point in our walk with God in Christ Jesus but we still need teachers to review the very basic principles of God. This is laziness by choice, a refusal to study. In groups from time to time I will ask how many people have Strong’s Concordance. I usually get no hands, occasionally one. Is it that the leaders themselves are lazy and not studying? Are they substituting emotion, hyperbole, and showmanship as a substitute for the Anointed Word of God? Could it be that the listeners want a little tickling of the ears and an enthusiastic confirmation of their entrenched doctrine of devils and the traditions of men. We walk away vindicated and smug and all the while Jesus says in Revelation 3:17 (KJV) that we are … wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Our writer says we are still drinking milk when we should be on meat. Babies drink milk and more mature persons eat strong meat. The picture being put forward is one of progressive uninterrupted maturing. As our text progresses we find out that those on milk are not skilled in the Word of righteousness and so by definition are of little to no use in the Kingdom of God. The most effective way to discern good from evil is to be full of good. Our text does not tell right here what is being spoken of as “the first principles of the oracles of God” As we proceed forward we will see that we are given clarification in that we are talking about the first principles of the Church, that upon which the Church is established. Of course, the foundation of the Church has its origins in the beginning of all things of this creation, God’s original intent. The will the intent of God was interrupted by willful sin in the Garden of Eden but was restored and then some by Christ Jesus. Adam had an enemy, Lucifer a fallen archangel, called the Serpent in the Garden of Eden. We have an enemy and the hoards that followed him in the rebellion but we also have the curse and a plethora of the doctrine of devils to contend with in the earth. The finished work of Christ Jesus at the Cross and beyond has equipped us with overwhelming superiority. As Caleb said in the day of rebellion by the children of Israel, “we are well able to overcome it”.
Numbers 13:30 (KJV)
30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
As end our study for today let us once again review the original intent of God and the more than adequate tools He provided.
Genesis 1:26-28 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Mankind are three parts being just like our God. We know God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are two parts the elements of Heaven (spirit and soul [mind]) and one part of the elements of earth. God gave mankind authority over all the earth which would include the first heaven or atmosphere. God gave us His authority, mankind was given absolute authority. To go with the authority (dominion) which would be useless without power to back it up, God gave mankind the Blessing who is the Holy Spirit, the Power of God.
Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
With this authority and power mankind was to be fruitful, to multiply, to fill the earth, to subdue the earth, to maintain the earth, to guard what God had given, and to never ever mix the knowledge of good and evil. They chose another god, mixed good and evil, forfeited authority to the forces of evil through deception therefore the Power of God withdrew.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
