MORE ABOUT ISAAC

Welcome back to this wonderful faith building study of faith and the coming of the Blessing for all peoples, whosoever will. Isn’t the Word of God such a wonderous Book giving life, eternal life, to all, any who will submit to God, receiving the sacrifice and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Many do not want to submit to God all the while not understanding that they are submitted to the one who only wants to steal, kill, and destroy in their lives. Seems like submitting to Jesus is a no brainer for He came that we have abundant life now and in the hereafter. However, there was a time I also walked in that darkness and deception, so let us pray that the light shine into all darkened hearts. Now, let’s read our primary text together aloud.
Hebrews 11:20-22 (KJV)
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
22 By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
When Abraham is old he sends his oldest and I suspect his most trusted servant back to the place of his nativity to obtain a wife for Isaac.
Genesis 24:4 (KJV)
4 But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.
As you will recall, Abraham also gave strict instructions that Isaac was to never go into the country from which they came, Ur of the Chaldees and I suspect he was also referring to Haran. It is here that Abraham’s servant finds a wife for Isaac by the name of Rebekah. By this time Sarah, Isaac’s mother, has died at one-hundred and twenty-seven years (Genesis 23:1).
Genesis 24:15-16 (KJV)
15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.
16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.
I think it is fascinating that this woman in the linage of Christ is found drawing water from a well, Jesus is the water of life, eternal life, and out of our belly (well) flows living water. As we move along I want for a moment to draw our attention to verse sixteen (sixteen the number of love) above. The text tells us that she is a virgin but then goes on to tell us that “neither had any man known her”. It seems that it is repeating the same information, being redundant, within the same verse, so what might this be telling us? I believe the Scripture is telling us that not only had this girl not had a physical sexual relationship with a man but she also had not had an emotional or spiritual (mental/mind) relationship with a man. Physical relationships start in the mind (spirit realm). Remember the Words of Jesus.
Matthew 5:28 (KJV)
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Now, let’s move on with this account.
Genesis 24:29 (KJV)
29 And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well.
Rebekah is the sister of Laban and this is where Rebekah sends Jacob after their deception of Esau. Esau (first born) and Jacob are twin brothers born to Isaac and Rebekah. Rebekah agrees to marry Isaac sight unseen and leaves with Abrahams’ servant back to the area of the well of Lahairoi (the place of the vision of a spring or well of living water).
Genesis 24:61-67 (KJV)
61 And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.
62 And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.
63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.
64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.
65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.
66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.
67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
