FAITH, WORKS, VICTORY – PART SEVEN
Tuesday – June 5, 2018, Sivan 22, 5778
THE WALLS ARE COMING DOWN!
No matter how formidable the walls in our lives may appear, in the spirit, they are down from the moment we give the command. These walls (the mountains) the devil tries to erect in our lives are ours to triumph over. Let me remind you of the following Scripture before we launch back into our study of Jericho.
Mark 11:22-25 (KJV)
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Verse twenty-five is vital because any unforgiveness in our heart takes us out of right standing with the court of Heaven and our voice cannot be heard (we do not have legal standing). Let us put this in our eyes and our ears until we believe it and all the “yeah buts” or “well brother, God doesn’t always do what we ask” are gone. God does it all if it is part of the Covenant and it is spoken in love, by faith, led of the Spirit of God. Name one time that the Father did not do what Jesus said. Along this same line (Truth) is the Scripture at the end of todays study from the Book of Job. Now, let’s take a look at our primary text and read it aloud as we prepare to return to Joshua and Jericho.
Hebrews 11:30-32 (KJV)
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Well, let us continue our journey to watching the walls of Jericho fall. Remember, this event right along with Mark chapter eleven gives us a pattern of how we can bring our walls (mountains) down with ease. God never intended for man to struggle. Sweat of the brow appears with the curse. How much struggling and sweating do you suppose God does? We are in His image and likeness, we are of like kind with our Heavenly Father given dominion and His power to accomplish all things. Now, let’s read aloud our secondary text.
Joshua 6:1-5 (KJV)
1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
2 And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.
Jericho is well aware of an impending attack by the children of Israel and unknown to the children of Israel they are quaking in their boots. I suspect they are looking for a conventional attack and I suspect before the Captain of the LORD’S hosts appeared the Israelites were thinking a conventional attack as well. Now, they have at the very least a very unconventional battle plan. Are we leaving the walls and mountains the devil presents to us in place because we don’t understand how the Word of God works in the natural? The Word and the ways of the Lord are not natural and must be understood spiritually. We must use our spiritual tools of love, faith, and action, just as we see Joshua do. Commonly the Word of the Lord is nothing like the world, so we balk and take that old familiar route albeit full of defeat? That old familiar route does not depend upon the Lord but upon natural forces. As you read the Bible text above did you notice all the sevens? In Scripture the number seven has to do with completeness and spiritual perfection. The completeness and the spiritual perfection of course are the work of the Lord, our part is obedience (love). And, it came to pass on the seventh day just as the Word had said.
Joshua 6:20 (KJV)
20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
Are we ready to enforce the defeat of all demonic forces, removing the walls and mountains in your life? Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Job 22:28-30 (KJV)
28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
29 When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.
30 He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.
