THE FRAGRANCE OF THE ANOINTING
Friday – August 9, 2019, Av 8, 5779

Greetings to our wonderful and precious friends and partners of this Ministry and followers of this blog. None of you are taken for granted and are prayed for each day. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to “love” the teaching and “share” it. Thank you for partnering with us to spread the Truth. The featured pictures this week were of various scenes here in Maine and today is of my help-meet and yours truly as usual. This picture was taken outside the Texan Culture Center and the Tower of the Americas in April. We speak the love of God to one and all. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and delve as deep as the Holy Spirit will take us today.
John 12:1-3 (KJV)
1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
The countdown has begun to the Cross, the hour has come, the Word has been given from the Father to Jesus via the Holy Spirit. We will see no hint of fear throughout the whole redemption process. However, we do see torment on the Cross when separation occurs from the Father due to sin and spiritual death and hours before in the Garden of Gethsemane sweating large drops like drops of blood. Jesus (the Word in eternity past) had never ever been separated from the Father. Never had this been necessary before, they have always been one. As we enter a new chapter in this Book of John, we also enter the final countdown to the Cross. So, Jesus now travels from Ephraim to Bethany. It would appear that the main road would take one through Jerusalem where there was a vigil to find and take Him captive. We are not given any indication in our text as to the route taken. The absence of a notation does not mean He did not go right through the center of Jerusalem and they saw Him not. Jesus arrives at the home of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus six days before Passover, six days before the Cross. Why here? Well we are about to find out.
Supper is being prepared and Lazarus among others is seated at the table with Jesus. Wouldn’t you have just enjoyed being at that table hearing the conversation? It has only been a few days since Lazarus was restored to life, can’t you just imagine the excitement in town and the hubbub (a chaotic din caused by a crowd of people) in and out of the house as people come for a variety of reasons, not all good. I don’t know about you but I avoid these kinds of situations (chaos) at almost any cost. For some this is a way of life, of coming together, not for me. God is not in the chaos, the hubbub.
1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV)
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
1 Corinthians 14:33 (AMP)
33 For He [Who is the source of their prophesying] is not a God of confusion and disorder but of peace and order. As [is the practice] in all the churches of the saints (God’s people),
As we enter verse three a powerful prophetic act is about to be unfolded in front of us. This is the same Mary that did not have faith for the raising of the dead and was home weeping with the Jews who came out of Jerusalem to weep with her. This was the same Mary that provoked Jesus by the unbelief in her. Yes, He was provoked by the unbelieving Jews gathered but Mary is one of the people with whom He had close and personal contact. This is no different than for you and me when a loved one does not have confidence in us and we are left perplexed, perhaps even angry at their unbelief. Let’s look closely at verse three and pick up with it Lord willing Monday.
John 12:3 (KJV)
3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
