Saturday – August 10, 2019, Av 9, 5779

Greetings most precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and welcome back to this illuminating and empowering Bible Study. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment and hit the” like” and “share” buttons to join with us in the teaching of this gospel, the Truth. As you will hopefully recall I am teaching about what is commonly called “The Sermon on the Mount”. We are teasing out the traditional and false teachings which keep one in bondage and illuminating the Truth. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud.
Matthew 5:3-12 (KJV)
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
First let us all remind ourselves and remember that the meaning of the word ‘blessed’ is to possess the favor or God, a state of being marked by the fulness of God, when we are fully submitted to Him. In short, it is the empowerment to step into the fulness of the Kingdom of God when we are fully submitted to Him. Starting with verse three of our text we find that when we are poor in spirit if we will submit ourselves to Him fully, we have the whole Kingdom of God at our fingertips. Submission to God is love, agape (love), the God kind of love which is free of selfishness (selfless), does the Scripture, and is observant of Blood Covenant. Moving forward with our text we find in verse four that if we are tempted to mourn, we are empowered to have comfort, by the Hand of God Himself. Grieving is not something God envisioned for us ever. Many times, a key to all of these things, grieving included, is to have Heavens view and not the worlds view.
In verse five we are told that those who are meek, humble (not weak, power under control) inherit the earth. This inheriting of the earth is not something for the future it is now. The earth is the Lords and the fulness thereof so as joint-heirs in Christ Jesus the earth is already ours. The question is if we will submit to the Father and actually walk in that ownership. If we make righteousness a top priority, right standing in all things with the Father, we will overflow in all good things according to verse six. Are we hungering and thirsting to be innocent before the Lord in every area of our lives or are certain areas off limits and we go our own way? Verse seven is so important in my life and I suspect in yours whether you realize it or not. Where would any of us be without His mercy. In submission (kneeling) to Him the Holy Spirit works mercy in our lives. Thank you, Jesus! Verse eight assures us that if we will maintain a pure heart (mind) we will see the workings of God in our lives. All who are saved will eventually see God but not everyone sees God at work in their lives in the here and now. As we know to do and are led of the Holy Spirit, we renew our minds to God we will have a pure heart in the sight of God.
Are each of us striving to be at peace and to be peacemakers as indicted in verse nine? Peace, peace of God, is oneness with God, it is to have the same circumstances as God in oneness with Him. Are we pushing that way, do we even think that is possible? To be a peacemaker is to manifest a oneness with God and draw others into that oneness with Him. Persecution (verse ten) comes with the territory of being in Christ Jesus. Persecutions are acts of enmity (hostility, hate, antagonism, ill will) towards us. That is not to say that we suffer loss in the process, we like Jesus, walk away. The Kingdom is ours, there is no force superior to the forces of the Kingdom, we are not to be hurt by this persecution. Being killed for the cause of Christ is not the will of God. Jesus takes it very personal when we are reviled, persecuted, and lied about (verse eleven). He will see to it that we flow in the fulness of God as we continue to submit to God. We react to circumstances only as directed of the Holy Spirit. Finally, in verse twelve we are told to rejoice and be exceedingly glad when persecution comes for His sake for great is our reward in Heaven. This has to be done on purpose for most of us want everyone to like us but dear saints get used to it, the world will not like you and a good many in the Church will not like you say nothing of loving you.
I hope that this brief review of the “Sermon on the Mount” has brought some clarity to our thinking about the use of the word ‘blessed’ and how God wants us here and now not just later. He wants us overflowing in all good things, physical and spiritual.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
