MORE ABOUT THE GLORY
Wednesday – October 23, 2019, Tishrei 24, 5780

Greetings my precious friends and partners of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word blog. A major focus of this ministry is to encourage and build each one of us up, unveil the Word (revelation) so we can come higher in Him looking more and more like Him, and to give prophetic insights into the will of God now and in coming days. The featured fall picture today is in Mount Vernon Maine and not far from where I grew up. I hope you enjoy these pictures. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give us encouraging feedback and to broaden the reach of these Bible teachings. God is so very good my friends. Now, let’s turn our attention to our Bible Study of the book of John by first reading out primary text aloud.
John 13:31-35 (KJV)
31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Before we move forward in our text, I want to digress just a little to talk a little more about the word “glory” or as in our text glorified. You have seen me time and time again refer to the glory of God as the manifested goodness of God. The goodness of God manifests most prominently in the lives of these obedient to the Word of God but is manifest in everyone’s life one way or another. The goodness or glory of God is manifest in the rankest of sinners by the very fact that His mercy and justice has kept them alive not allowing the devil to kill them so they might receive salvation. For those obedient to the Word of God and in Covenant with Him there is no limit to the possible manifestations of the glory or goodness of God in their life. One of the primary reasons for defining the glory of God as the manifested goodness of God is not just due to dictionary or Strong’s Concordance definitions but its very use in Scripture. Remember when Moses cried out for God to show him His glory and the Lord responded that He would show him His goodness.
Exodus 33:17-19 (KJV)
17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
As you review and study this passage and the verses to follow, we find that God painted a picture of the glory (goodness) to come which was Jesus and the Holy Spirit. One good rule of thumb in the study of Scripture is to look at first use of a word so we will do that with regard to this word “glory”. Let’s look at the first use of the word “glory” in the Old Testament.
Genesis 31:1 (KJV)
1 And he heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father’s; and of that which was our father’s hath he gotten all this glory.
Let’s look at the Amplified translation of this Scripture.
Genesis 31:1 (AMP)
1 JACOB HEARD Laban’s sons complaining, Jacob has taken away all that was our father’s; he has acquired all this wealth and honor from what belonged to our father.
So, we see that the use of the word “glory” here is clearly talking about honor and wealth (earthly assets in copious amounts). The Hebrew word for glory is kabod meaning to be weighty (highest quality), to have splendor and/or have copiousness according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The glory or the manifest goodness of God in our lives is an extraordinarily powerful witness to the world. The natural man is carnal without the ability to perceive spiritually but they sure recognize honor and wealth. Now let’s take a look at the first use of “glory” in the New Testament.
Matthew 4:8 (KJV)
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
You likely recognize that this verse occurs during the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. The glory is all the goods of this earth which Adam and those to follow were entitled to and had authority over and possession of but forfeited with bowing of the knee to the Serpent. The good news my brother and sister is that Jesus got it all back.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
