Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this illuminating and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. We are such a loved and blessed peoples. It is in many ways beyond the scope of our current languages in the earth to describe His love, His blessing, His goodness (glory) towards all, especially those of the household of faith. Dear ones when we were born again, we changed kingdoms and we are no longer to live by the dictates of the world. We have different laws, obligations and benefits the world does not and cannot enjoy. The featured picture today is of the Governor’s Mansion in Madison Wisconsin. The purpose of the picture is to remind us to pray for our government, all that are in authority. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 66:5-8 (NKJV)
5 Hear the word of the LORD, You who tremble at His word: “Your brethren who hated you, Who cast you out for My name’s sake, said, ‘Let the LORD be glorified, That we may see your joy.’ But they shall be ashamed.”
6 The sound of noise from the city! A voice from the temple! The voice of the LORD, Who fully repays His enemies!
7 “Before she was in labor, she gave birth; Before her pain came, She delivered a male child.
8 Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, She gave birth to her children.
Today we will pick up with verse six of our primary Bible text above. There will be an uproar in the city as the just judgments of the Lord come to pass. I wanted to give just a little bit of attention to the phrase “Who fully repays His enemies”. I think we all understand that if we borrow $100, we are required to repay $100 generally with interest. When someone commits a crime the duly elected officials have determined a just debt that person owes society for the crime. For example, a certain crime may require a sentence to jail of two years or a fine of $1000.00. This would constitute full repayment.
Moving forward, who is the male child. I believe this is a Messianic Scripture referring to Christ (the Messiah) Jesus. That male child is the most worshiped and the most persecuted person of all time. Let’s look at this eighth verse in the NIV translation.
Isaiah 66:8 (NIV)
8 Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.
Who is the country born in a day, who is the nation brought forth in a moment and who are the children of Zion? The country that was born, perhaps the phrase reborn would be most accurate, is the State or nation of Israel on May 14, 1948. Jesus said this generations would not pass away before all is fulfilled.
Matthew 24:32-34 (KJV)
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
So, how long is a generation? Given God’s conversation with Abram about the Jews occupying the Promised Land and the days of man being set at 120 years I think we can conclude a generation to be 100 – 120 years or 2048 – 2068. More next week!
