WHICH DOOR – WHICH ROAD ARE YOU WALKING

Greetings to all and welcome back to this teaching series titled “The Curse Causeless”. This Truth from the Word of God may not make one comfortable but bringing comfort is not the only purpose of the Word of God. It is a comfort when we are seeking first the Kingdom of God and His way of doing things, but it is a warning for those who are off His path. Of His path means we have breached the Word of God, and the demonic powers can take us captive at their will. Let’s revisit our anchor Scripture and then move forward in this study.
Proverbs 26:2 (ESV)
2 Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, a curse that is causeless does not alight.
To reiterate, the curse will not, cannot enter our lives without a cause. God is never the cause, the devils are never the cause, leaving you and I as the cause. I left off yesterday making it clear once again that thinking, speaking, and doing the Word of God is our place of safety. When we don’t think, speak, and do the Word of God we have breached the wall of safety, and the serpent is going to bite. It was not God’s choice, it wasn’t the demons choice although they are encouraging us to do thing their way, it was our choice. We choose either deliberately with full knowledge, or we did it willfully ignorantly. There is another category which I will discuss later and that is ignorance of and failure to receive and enforce our Covenant. I am going to deal a little more today with the Word being our safe boundary.
John 10:9-10 (ESV)
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
We might ask ourselves, what door have I been using? One door leads to stealing, killing, and destroying, the other abundance. Seems like an easy obvious choice but it seems that millions in the body of Christ have chosen the wrong door. Let’s look at a portion of Scripture from the Proverbs for further knowledge.
Proverbs 3:1-6 (ESV)
1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,
2 for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.
3 Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
First, I want to point out it is well worth our time to review this whole chapter. Does verse one sound familiar, anything like Deuteronomy 28:1-2, 15? What is the fruit of living the commandments of God? A longer life, not of misery, but of peace. Anyone interested in this? We are to walk in love and faithfulness towards God and mankind. What is the fruit of verse three? Favor and success with God and man. Anyone not want this? Verse five gives us the command to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart”. Does your thought life, your words, and actions reflect obedience to this command? What does the Apostle Paul by unction of the Holy Spirit say along these lines?
Romans 12:2 (ESV)
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Are we filtering everything through Scripture or the ways of the world, how we have done it before, how we have always done it? Finally, what about verse six? Are we acknowledging Him in all our ways to be sure it is His way which is safety and abundance. Are we allowing, on purpose, Him to make our ways straight by walking in the Word of God?
TAKE HOME:
- The curse can’t just come, manifest, into our lives, we have to have breached the wall, the Scripture.
- Which door are you choosing? Is it consistently the Word or do you mix and match the Word with the door to the ways of the world?
- Are you pursuing with all your heart the will, the ways, of our Heavenly Father?
Lord willing, I will resume right here Monday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
