TRADITIONS, LIES, and TRUTH – PART FIFTY
REBELLION

Greetings precious children of God and welcome back to this illuminating study with God helping us to discern the lie from the Truth. Christmas is behind us and in just a few days we will be into 2020. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to encourage us and spread this Truth. All Truth is of God and all lies are of the devil. That is not to say that people don’t lie, it is that the lie started, lying started, with the evil one and his cohorts. Lies are deception and deception or lies are rebellion against the Truth and therefore against God. Many times, these lies become accepted as the Truth because of the route or person through which they came like the pastor or respected relative. Many traditions of men started as Truth but the enemy brought deception and a corruption occurred. This corrupted truth is no longer Truth but is accepted as the Truth and is now taught as the Truth but it is not God. Accepting deception as the Truth is rebellion against God and Satan is the original rebel. His nature is to rebel against God, against all authority and thus we see this rampant in culture today. Satan is the god of this world and has blinded the minds of the people. Our fallen nature is to rebel against God and all authority.
Another gospel is deception and comes about by self-deception or deception by another. In any event we allow deception by another by not proving the words spoken. Jesus, the Master, told us to be careful what we hear and how we hear. We allow deception by laziness, by offence, by self-reasoning, or reasoning with others, and not reasoning with God, the Word of God. Just look at the mess Adam made because He believed another gospel, and look at the mess many of us have in our lives for the same reason. What was the other gospel Adam believed? As you read Genesis chapter three verses one through seven, we see Adam go from being a son of God with all authority and the Blessing of God in the earth to being a son of Satan and naked (Romans 6:16). God had spoken to Adam and instructed him yet he listened to, entertained the words of a fallen archangel.
As a side note I do not believe for a moment that Satan had taken possession of a large snake and approached Eve with his lies. First of all, Satan had no authority to enter the snake, and secondly a snake has no physical apparatus for speech. If you will research the appearance of the archangels and seraphim you will find they have a snake like appearance in that they have an arching posture. Remember the cherubim arching over the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant. Adam and Eve could see in the spiritual realm as well as the physical. They knew who they were talking to. Adam and Eve could see and knew this was a fallen angel, a spiritual creature and interacted with him as easily as we do a friend on the street. They should have had nothing to do with him and sent him packing immediately.
God had told Adam to have nothing to do with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:17 (KJV)
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
So, this is the Gospel but Adam allowed another gospel.
Genesis 3:4-5 (KJV)
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Satan in effect said; “God didn’t really give you the whole scoop. When you know good and evil you will be as gods”. The serpent is causing Adam and Eve to be offended with God, causing a strife between them and God. He got them focusing on this tree bringing about a lust of the eye, lust of the flesh, and pride of life (1 John 2:16), as he contradicts the Word of God. The more they thought about the tree, the more they looked at the tree, and the more they talked about the tree the more Eve wanted its’ fruit. In addition, he is telling them they will become something they already are. They were already gods (Psalm 82) of this earth (and so are you). Satan apparently knew that if he could trick them, he would become the god of this earth in place of man.
Now, man was fallen from an exalted position just under God Himself (Psalm 8) to being the servant of a fallen angel. When Adam and Eve listened to and followed another gospel there were terrible consequences for all of mankind. Before we laugh at Adam and Eve too much let us be mindful that we are most likely doing the same thing right now, and probably in multiple areas of our lives. There are things we believe and might even die for, that are not the Truth, they are another gospel. Following another gospel always separates us from God, from the wonderful plan of God and gives us another plan, and another god, with the illusion we are serving God. Jesus said that the traditions of man make the Word of God of no effect.
Mark 7:7-9 (KJV)
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
Mark 7:13 (KJV)
13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
We believe, say, and do things we or others came up with by the deceptions of the enemy in place of the commandments of God. Therefore, we do not and cannot operate in the blessing, or receive of the goodness of God. Don’t you find this sounding a lot like not mixing good with evil? Evil is anything that is not of God, period. You might think that is a little strong, but each of us must examine the fruits of our lives. Bad fruit means wrong thoughts and words spoken in faith. Listen to the Master.
Luke 6:45 (KJV)
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
This is rather sobering. Jesus is not just talking to unsaved but to the saved. At salvation all of our hearts contained much evil and it is our responsibility to renew our minds to the Truth displacing the lies. Consider the following.
Hebrews 11:3 (KJV)
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Whatever my world, whatever your world today, it is of our own making, our thoughts and our words uttered in faith (we believed). By our world I am talking about our finances, our health, and everything else. Beware of the traditions of men and the doctrines of devils.
1 Timothy 4:1 (KJV)
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
I am told that the way FBI agents are trained to identify counterfeit money is by looking at and handling real money. We must be so familiar with the Gospel that “another gospel” stands out like a sore thumb. Let us look at the example of the Berea’s
Acts 17:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
If you do not take anything else away from this teaching, take this, prove all things by the Scripture. Do not prove all things to your denomination, family, or favorite teacher, but to what the Word of God actually says. Anything else is rebellion.
