GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT – PART FOURTEEN
Greetings and welcome to all who join this blog, the Friday Bible Study titled “Gifts”. I am currently focused on the nine gifts of the Spirit (Holy Spirit). Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry and the Truth. Let’s prepare to dive into our study of gifts from God, currently the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. A gift can be a talent, skill, an ability, a present, or something granted. The gifts of the Spirit are an imparted supernatural gifting which conveys a supernatural ability. Now, let’s turn our attention to the Apostle Paul’s discussion of these gifts by the unction of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:1 (KJV)
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
We always have areas (and perhaps always will) of ignorance but we should be actively eliminating one after another led of the Holy Spirit (the Master Teacher).
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 (KJV)
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
As you will recall, last week I left off with a discussion of the discerning of spirits. The word ‘discern’ means to separate thoroughly or we could say to completely distinguish between two or more things, in this case spirits. The Devil and all the demons are spirit beings as are the holy angels. It would seem that they also have a soul (mind, will, and emotions). However, none of them have a material (physical) body. The only spirit being who used to have a physical body (of every precious stone) is the Devil (Satan) when he was called Lucifer.
Ezekiel 28:12-15 (KJV)
12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
When sin was found in him (Lucifer) and he was cast to earth he lost his covering.
Luke 10:18 (KJV)
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Upon entry into the earth’s atmosphere when he was cast from the third Heaven, through the second heaven to the earth he lost his covering. This covering was of the earth and would have given him authority and perhaps power in the earth independent of men but that was lost. The Devil is a disembodied spirit however I am not aware that any of the other fallen angels (demons, evil spirits, unclean spirits) have or had bodies. Other than Satan there are no disembodied spirits in the earth. When a person dies and vacates this earthly shell we are very briefly a disembodied spirit/soul in the earth, then we transit very quickly to Hell or Heaven. We will regain our bodies at the Resurrection, and have a glorified immortal body like what Jesus now has.
Now back to the discerning of spirits. The word ‘spirits’ here is referring to the spirit alone and not the soul/spirit combination. In other words, a person with the gift of discerning spirits is not discerning the heart (thoughts and intents) of the spirit but the type of spirit present. Is it a human spirit, a demonic spirit, the spirit of a holy angel, or the Spirit of God? This is an important gift to have operating in our life, in the Church. Consider the following as I end for today.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (KJV)
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
We dear ones must recognize the true from the lie, what is God and what is not God. Discern the spirit no matter how good the words spoken sound, and listen to the inner witness (still small voice of God within). Trust God and Him alone.

2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
