PETRA IN MODERN DAY JORDAN
Greetings dear and precious saints of God, the Lord God Almighty, Creator of everything and welcome back to this Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teachings as widely as possible by every means available to you to expand our reach with the Truth. Be sure you are reading out loud. The featured picture today is of Petra in modern day Jordan and was recently taken by a wonderful brother in the Lord, Barry Perez, who takes tours to Israel and an healing evangelistic Ministry as well. It is thought to be the place where the repentant Jews will flee from the antichrist in the Great Tribulation. This is presented to remind us of our responsibility, a command, to pray for the Jews, for Jerusalem.
Psalm 122:6-9 (KJV)
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
8 For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
9 Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good.
Dear ones reject replacement theology which says that the Church has supplanted the Jews. Listen to the Apostle Paul (you are reading out loud, right) as he tells us by the Holy Spirit that there are three groups of people in the earth, the Jews, the unsaved (Gentiles), and the Church.

32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
Now, dear ones, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 42:5-8 (KJV)
5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
Yesterday we left off in verse six with the Almighty Self-existent One telling us that the coming Messiah will make a legal path to Himself for all peoples who will. See this verse again in the Message Bible.
Isaiah 42:6 (MSG)
6 “I am GOD. I have called you to live right and well. I have taken responsibility for you, kept you safe. I have set you among my people to bind them to me, and provided you as a lighthouse to the nations,
The Messiah is the One set among the Jews to complete the Blood Covenant initiated with Abram/Abraham. This same Messiah, Jesus, is also “a lighthouse to the nations”. The nations, that’s you and I dear ones. The Father wanted so much for the Jews as well as the Gentiles to come to Him but as we know the Jews as a whole rejected Jesus and clung to the shadow of the real. The interesting thing is that they rejected Jesus the promised Messiah clinging to the Old Covenant which was a shadow of what was to come and was incomplete, yet since the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem in 70 AD they have not fully practiced the Old Covenant of animal sacrifice either. They (observant Jews) do however observe the Feasts of the Lord, but not with the attendant sacrifices, and other feasts or commemorations like Purim, Hannukah, and others.
The Lord has always wanted all people to worship Him to be part of His family, His Kingdom, even in this time, the time of the Old Covenant. They the Jewish people were to be a shining light to the surrounding nations pointing all peoples to the One true God. They and we are not to just be pointing people to a sweet bye and bye but how to bring the will of God to earth, how to have days of Heaven upon the earth. Yes, this is all in the Bible! The Gospel of John in the first chapter tells us much about the coming light and the light (Jesus the Messiah) who came. However, when He ascended back to the Father, we are the lights of the world in His stead. I will leave you with that Scripture.
Matthew 5:13-14 (KJV)
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
