AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH
Wednesday – February 10, 2021, Sh’vat 28, 5781
A MORE EXCELLENT NAME
Greetings dear and precious saints of God. We are such a privileged and loved people to be a part of the Kingdom of God, saved from the wrath to come. Thank you, Jesus, for giving us the fullness of your salvation! Please take a moment to share these teachings, expanding the reach of the Truth. The featured picture this week is to portray the Resurrected Jesus restored as the second person of the Triune God at the right hand of the Father. The picture is far from what I wanted, but after perusing the internet it is obvious that artists don’t have a good idea of Jesus’ position in Heaven. Jesus is King of kings and as such is seated in Heaven at the right hand of the Father. Jesus is seen standing as our High Priest, our Intercessor and Advocate, before the Father in Heaven. The Holy Spirit is our Intercessor in the earth. Our study of this Book of John has been wonderful thus far and we are far from done. Over the last few weeks, we have come to the Cross, the primary reason Jesus (the Word) came into the earth. Now He is arisen having taken our sin, our punishment, being made a curse in our stead, redeeming us from the curse and restoring the Blessing (Galatians 3:13-14). The first person to see the risen Jesus is Mary Magdalene and we find her clinging to His feet. Now, let’s dive into our lesson starting by reading our primary text aloud, yes, our loud.
John 20:17-19 (KJV)
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
As we continue to analyze verse seventeen of our primary text above, I want us to take a few moments to evaluate the Biblical Numerology of the verse. John is the fourth Book of the New Testament. The number four has to do with light (the illumination of the Anointed Word), authority, and power. Jesus returned light (the illumination of the Anointed Word of God) to the world while He was here and now, we are the light of the world. Twenty is the number of redemption. We are redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb. And, seventeen is the number of victory, we get to walk in the immense victory obtained by our Passover Lamb. The redemption, the victory obtained by the Cross and the Resurrection is not just Jesus’ redemption and victory but in Him ours as well. This redemption and victory return authority (dominion) in all the earth to those in Christ Jesus and restored the power to back up the authority (the Blessing). What a wonderful thing!
Now let’s return our attention to the Words the Father used to return Jesus to being fully God. Always remember that Jesus today, since the resurrection is fully man (as High Priest) and He is fully God (as King of kings).
Hebrews 1:3-6 (KJV)
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
We see that Jesus is the express (exact) image of the Father. Are we? Next we see that Jesus is upholding all ‘things’ by the “word of his power”. Remember that the word ‘things’ can also accurately be translated as ‘word’. He has spoken words which established all spiritual and physical law not to mention created things in the spirit realm and the natural realm. Jesus has purged (expunged) our sins, our sins cannot be found anymore, there is no adverse testimony against us, no valid, supported, evil report to be brought. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father and has been given a more excellent name above all angelic names. Listen to the Holy Spirit writing through the Apostle Paul as we end for today.
Philippians 2:7-11 (KJV)
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
