AN AMBASSADOR IN BONDS
Thursday – May 11, 2017

God is so very good, let us give Him thanks for all of His goodness in every day of our lives. Let’s loose Him for even greater things with praise (recognizing Who He is and what He wants to do in every one of our lives), and submission (worship) to His will, the leadership of His Holy Spirit. O He is so good! Well let’s jump right back into our Bible Study and see what the Holy Spirit has to say.
Ephesians 6:18-24 (KJV)
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
The Apostle Paul has asked his readers for their prayers and he states the specific objective of that prayer. He wants to be even bolder in the proclamation of the mystery of the gospel. As bold as we may think the Apostle Paul was he believes he can do better with God’s help. In verse twenty the Apostle Paul tells us that he is “an ambassador in bonds”. I want to reaffirm that we, all of us saved or not, are freewill agents. Satan will bring a person into bondage if they choose to go into bondage. Now keep in mind no one chooses bondage to the devil at the onset. They accept and embrace perhaps a small lie (deception, wiles) of the devil at the beginning and over time the larger lie and the bottom of the barrel is in sight. Since we are freewill agents our being in bonds or being tied or chained to another is our choice. A horrible choice if we have made ourselves a servant of the serpent and a wonderful choice if we are an Ambassador from God for the Kingdom of God. In Roman times, the time of Paul, a prisoner was chained to the one guarding him. So we by our choices just like the physical lawbreaker are chained either to the evil ones of darkness or our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We serve one or the other by choice and with dramatically different results.
Romans 6:16 (KJV)
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Keep in mind that the devil cannot ensnare anyone who is watchful (led of the Spirit of God) and praying (talking to God). We choose with our thoughts and the words of our mouth darkness or light, and death or life. I for one do not want to be chained to Satan, I’ve read where he is headed to a very bad place forever. I choose Jesus!! Now let’s take a moment and look at being ambassadors.
2 Corinthians 5:20 (KJV)
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
You and I are ambassadors from the Kingdom of God in the earth for the purpose of reconciling people to God and enlarging the Kingdom of God. The Scripture above tells us that we are “ambassadors for Christ” and are acting in the place of Christ to reconcile (reunite) people to God. The term ‘Christ’ seldom refers to only Jesus although it can. The word ‘Christ’ can mean Messiah, Anointed One, and/or The Anointing. Jesus’ ministry of bringing people into the Kingdom of God was aided by the Holy Spirit as were His sacrifice and resurrection. Our text (2 Corinthians 5:20) is most likely referring to the Messiah and the Anointed One. The Holy Spirit (The Anointing) remains in the earth and is with us, indwells us, and overflows in many (critical). He, the Holy Spirit, is the power of God that back up the authority we had restored when the work of Jesus was complete. The Holy Spirit was sent as per Jesus’ promise and is here whereas Jesus has ascended into Heaven. Now, we are to function here in the earth in His stead to do the things He did and the greater things than He did.
One last point that I want to make concerning an ambassador is that an ambassador is the highest ranking official in the host country from the sending country. We are the highest ranking officials of the Kingdom of God in the earth. Remember that the Holy Spirit and Holy Angels are in the earth however we have authority according to the will of God over both in accordance with Scripture and maturity. As I have said many times before, why do we chose to live so far below what God has chosen and given to us freely? Until tomorrow love and blessings.
Please determine in your heart (mind, thinking) to receive and walk in the Blessing which is freely available to all believers.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
