COMFORT YOUR HEARTS
Friday – May 12, 2017

Another Friday is upon us. The Lord is so very good, not because it is Friday but because that is His nature and days of the week should not matter in the Kingdom of God for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. When we are laboring and heavy laden we have missed the Lord and have gone astray like lost sheep and are game for the devil to take us captive at his will. I choose the way of an abundant life for now and eternity and I want nothing to do with stealing, killing, and destroying now and for eternity. Okay, let’s get back to our Bible Study in the Epistle of Ephesians.
Ephesians 6:20-24 (KJV)
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
We ended yesterday discussing the fact that the Apostle Paul was an ambassador for the Kingdom of God and so are we, each and every one of us. We are also kings and priests in the Kingdom of God. As ambassadors on foreign soil, in the devils territory, we are to live by the standards and laws of the Kingdom of God. We are not to adapt to the kingdoms of this world nor compromise with them to make us or them more comfortable. We are an elite and superior being as the sons and daughters of God. The laws and standards of this world do not apply to us. Now, I am not saying you can ignore the law of the land, I am saying that the course of the curse i.e. poverty and disease are not our lot.
The Apostle Paul apparently believed either by report or revelation from God that the people of Ephesus were worried about him so he tells them that a beloved brother and faithful minister by the name of Tychicus will be along and bring them up to date on his ministry. According to the Biographical Bible Tychicus was a gentile convert who assisted Paul and was with Paul in Rome. Paul continues in Ephesians 6:22 saying that Tychicus would bring comfort to their hearts. The word comfort means to come near and speak. The word hearts used here is referring to the mind (thoughts and feelings), more specifically the decision making area of the mind (spiritual organ). I have often referred to this part of the mind as the middle man or like the entry area (atrium) to a home.
So Tychicus is going to come near to them and speak words that Paul believes will allow them to choose not to entertain fearful thoughts and emotions. If they continue with their current way of thinking concerning Paul the door to the enemy remains open for destruction in their lives meaning they cannot be engaged in effective spiritual warfare on their own behalf or on the behalf of Paul. Many believe that worry or concern is a responsible behavior when in fact it is sin and brings destruction. Some may try to conjoin the conflicting knowledge of comfort and worry which only results in a mess, allowing the stealing, killing, and destroying they had or were about to endure with worry alone. Adding good to bad does not negate the bad but allows the bad to flow unhindered. Just think about the Garden of Eden when they mixed the knowledge of good with evil.
I realize I am cutting this teaching a little short but I want to start with a new topic on Monday. We will be finishing up the Book of Ephesians in the next few days and then we will move into other exciting life changing study of Scripture.
Please determine in your heart (mind, thinking) to receive and walk in the Blessing which is freely available to all believers.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
