AND IT IS GONE

Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God, who gave Jesus, the pinnacle of His goodness, the glory of God, the only way to the Father, the only way to Heaven. Welcome back to this awesome Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment as we are moving forward to share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you expanding the reach of the good news, the Truth. There is no Truth besides that in the Holy Bible. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is of Donna and me a couple of years ago in Rockland Maine at Archers on the Pier. As you know most of our pictures revolve around a place we are going to eat at, are eating at, or have eaten at. Now, let’s move into our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 40:3-8 (KJV)
3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
As we look at verse six it is almost as if we are listening to a private conversation between the Lord and John the Baptist. Perhaps not a whole lot unlike conversations you have had with the Lord. I don’t know what you think about the message he is told to cry (declare) but at first take it is not real uplifting. On the other hand, it is a sobering and really kind reminder that this is not all there is and is in fact very temporary. For the most part many of the things done in this life don’t amount to a hill of beans as it concerns eternity, building the Kingdom of God, or Kingdom rewards. Think in terms of owning a company. When we disconnect certain activities entirely from the business, we will cease to have a maximally effective business. Even our “time off” can enhance the business by giving us time to reflect, rest, reposition, hear more efficiently from God, and so on. Too many have done this, disconnecting Church, Christian life, from their “real life”. It is all one life dear ones. What has the Lord told us to cry? Are we faithfully crying, saying what He told us to say? Now let’s shift gears to verses seven and eight. This natural life fades and passes away but we are reborn by the glory of God.
1 Peter 1:23-25 (TLB)
23 For you have a new life. It was not passed on to you from your parents, for the life they gave you will fade away. This new one will last forever, for it comes from Christ, God’s ever-living Message to men.
24 Yes, our natural lives will fade as grass does when it becomes all brown and dry. All our greatness is like a flower that droops and falls;
25 but the Word of the Lord will last forever. And his message is the Good News that was preached to you.
As we see in the following passage we must be kind, compassionate, and merciful with all peoples, including ourselves.
Job 14:1-4 (TLB)
1 “How frail is man, how few his days, how full of trouble!
2 He blossoms for a moment like a flower—and withers; as the shadow of a passing cloud, he quickly disappears.
3 Must you be so harsh with frail men and demand an accounting from them?
4 How can you demand purity in one born impure?
That sure is sobering, how often have we done this, judging ourselves or another. It is not to say we don’t strive for purity but we must recognize it is a more than one step process.
Psalm 103:1-5 (TLB)
1 I bless the holy name of God with all my heart.
2 Yes, I will bless the Lord and not forget the glorious things he does for me.
3 He forgives all my sins. He heals me.
4 He ransoms me from hell. He surrounds me with loving-kindness and tender mercies.
5 He fills my life with good things! My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
My sins are forgiven and I am ransomed from Hell!!
Psalm 103:10-17 (TLB)
10 He has not punished us as we deserve for all our sins,
11 for his mercy toward those who fear and honor him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
12 He has removed our sins as far away from us as the east is from the west.
13 He is like a father to us, tender and sympathetic to those who reverence him.
14 For he knows we are but dust
15 and that our days are few and brief, like grass, like flowers,
16 blown by the wind and gone forever.
17 But the loving-kindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting to those who reverence him;
Thank you, Father, thank you Jesus, thank you Holy Spirit! You are mine and I am yours now and forever more! Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
