AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH
Tuesday – February 23, 2021, Adar 11, 5781
ANOINTED WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS
Greetings dear saints and welcome back to this enlightening Bible Study of the Book of John. If you will receive it, prove it, believe it, and implement it, you will come higher in the Kingdom and be more and more like Jesus in appearance to the world. The Father sees us the same as He sees Jesus but unfortunately the world does not see most of us in this way. Some talk the Word of God but their lives reflect an altogether different playbook. Let’s ditch the traditions of men and the doctrines of demons, feast upon and do the pure Word of God. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible to extend the reach of these Truths. The featured picture today is from our good friend Joe Getchell Jr. and gives us a reprieve from winter and a little vision of the spring and summer to come.
Here at Eastern Gate Ministries International, in our home, and with our friends we have been talking a lot lately about removing the trees planted within us which are not a planting of the Lord. Trees develop from a seed; all words are seeds whether they be in the form of thoughts or spoken/heard. From the time of our conception in the womb seeds have been sown into us, most corruptible (not the Word of God) but hopefully a few that were incorruptible (Word of God). Consider the following two verses.
Matthew 15:13 (KJV)
13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
For the Christian, that which the Heavenly Father did not plant will be rooted up either here in the earth or there (Heaven). Of course, it would be best to root out those things (ideas, words, beliefs) now and walk more like the Christ. How, can we do the works Jesus did and the greater works if we are not like Him? These plantings not of the Lord will be rooted out when we leave this body and before fully entering Heaven, for these things cannot enter Heaven (Rev 22:14-15). Just how do we root these false ideas, beliefs out? First, we have to be open to identifying them. Then just as Jesus spoke to (cursed) the unproductive (for the Kingdom) fig tree, so we speak in faith and move the mountain into the sea with the following words from the Master Himself.
Mark 11:14 (KJV)
14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. (bold added)
Once the unproductive planting or even counterproductive planting is removed there will be a void. That void must be quickly filled with the Truth. Everything we believe is either a lie or the Truth. There is no such thing as a vacuum in the natural or spiritual. Now, let’s turn our attention to the Book of John and our primary text. Please read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:17-18 (KJV)
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
The Father has just Resurrected Jesus by the Mighty Power of His Holy Spirit. As He stands outside the tomb and speaks to Mary Magdalene, He is again fully God, but now also fully man with an incorruptible body. We have been reviewing from the Book of Hebrews what the Father said on that wonderful day.
Hebrews 1:8-9 (KJV)
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
The Father addresses Jesus as God and Himself as the God of Jesus. Have you thought about that? Jesus is fully man, He is our Intercessor, Advocate, our High Priest and as such those
functions are addressed to God the Father. Jesus is the man between God and men (1 Timothy 2:5). The Father goes on to say that Jesus has been Anointed with the oil of gladness above His fellows. The word ‘gladness’ is joy or rejoice. The word ‘above’ also means with. The word ‘fellows’ is interesting.
According to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary and The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament a fellow is a
participant, a sharer, by implication an associate, partaker, partner, or a coparticipant. This oil of gladness gives us like Jesus the capacity to have joy, to rejoice, in the midst of any storm, so let us rejoice laying our emotions of natural circumstances to one side.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
