ARE WE BLIND ALSO?
Tuesday – May 14, 2019, Iyar 9, 5779

Greetings dear partners, and friends of Eastern Gate Ministries International and The Three Minute Word publication. Today I will be continuing this powerful and insightful Bible Study of the Book of John. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment and hit the “like” and “share” buttons to expand the reach of this ministry. There is no substitute for the Word of God and insight into the Word of God. The Word of God is the only reliable, unchanging, unshakeable foundation for our lives. Now, let us turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading it aloud.
John 9:38-41 (KJV)
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
The Word of God is so wonderful, it is the only reliable light for the path of our feet. We left off yesterday with the man who received light accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. What a wonderful account of physical and spiritual healing and an awful illustration of Church gone amuck. Following this conversion Jesus and the ever-present Pharisees make comments. One might be wondering how this man was born again when Jesus had not yet gone to the Cross. With God all things are possible and all things are possible with God by faith. One very pertinent key here is that we must be ‘with’ God which is to say we are in His shadow, in the secret place, and saying what He says.
Amos 3:3 (KJV)
3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Saying what the Master says means to say exactly what He says; it must be said without adding to or subtracting from and must be from a heart of unwavering faith. No double mindedness my friends.
As we look at verse thirty-nine let’s look at the word ‘judgment’ which has to do with making a decision or distinguishing between two things. A quality and right decision or opportunity to distinguish between two things only happens in the light, not the darkness. Light (Jesus) had to come for salvation to be universally available and the Holy Spirit available to all peoples. Let’s take a look at this verse in the Amplified Translation for perhaps increased clarity.
John 9:39 (AMP)
39 Then Jesus said, I came into this world for judgment [as a Separator, in order that there may be separation between those who believe on Me and those who reject Me], to make the sightless see and to make those who see become blind.
As we look at this let’s recall that a spiritual law is at work here which is extremely vital in all of our lives for it determines the amount of light or darkness we have in our lives. God wants us to be filled to overflowing with light and no darkness but it is not His call it is ours; we choose.
Matthew 6:21-23 (KJV)
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Where is my treasure? Let me look at my checkbook, let me look at my credit or debit card statements, and let me look at a log of where and how I am spending my time. What is the yardstick by which we measure our life, our morals, our thoughts, our words, and our actions? Once we have identified our treasure, our yardstick, what we treasure, who we treasure, we have identified our God. From our secondary text above Jesus makes it clear that we must have an eye that is single and whether we like it or not it is either single for light or darkness. A mixture always favors the darkness dominating (think Garden of Eden). What we treasure will displace what we do not treasure. What is displacing God in my life, your life?
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
