ASSEMBLED FOR FEAR

Greetings to the saints of God and those who are pre-saints of God. We welcome all to The Three Minute Word blog. Please take a moment right now to share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach of the Truth. The featured picture this week again like last week is illustrating Jesus’ appearance among His disciples after the Resurrection. The title for todays teaching comes from the 19th verse of our text below. As I was selecting todays title I was wondering if we are also hiding, assembled for fear, of others. Like our natural home is to be a place of love (all types), nurturing, and training, so is the local meeting house for the Church. We learn at home what the proper conduct and manners are not only in the home but outside the home. So, it is with the house of God in which the Church meets. Of course, much more goes on in the home and in the Church than the short list given but in part it is the training ground. For example, in the natural when we observe bad behavior in children outside the home, we can very safely conclude that there is little to no training occurring in the home. What about Christians outside of, or even in, the House of God? Let me ask this question. Was Jesus’ behavior any different in His home, in the Synagogue, or out in the public square? No, He did all of the same things where ever people would receive the love, the mercy, and the goodness of God. What about you and me? Could it be that we are not learning who we are in Christ Jesus? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 20:19-21 (KJV)
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
As you will recall, the Resurrection of Jesus occurred just a few hours ago. Three days before this He hung on the Cross shedding His precious Blood redeeming those who chose Him out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God. He took the curse of sin in His body so we do not have to suffer the curse of sin in our bodies, by His stripes we were healed. He had been in Hell so that we don’t have to go. He preached the gospel in the Bosom of Abraham and led those captive there until He, the Messiah, could come, out and into Heaven. At His resurrection they (those in the Bosom of Abraham) were also resurrected and He, Jesus, escorted them into the presence of the Father. He has appeared to Mary Magdalene and taken His Precious Blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven. Now, Jesus, the Risen Savior, fully restored as God, appears in the midst of His disciples. Remember, the doors are not only closed but locked.
The text does not tell us but I would imagine that they are understandably startled. His first words to them are “Peace be unto you”. Have we thought about why this is His first statement rather than for example “fear not”? They are already in fear we see that from the text. Last week when we left off this study we were talking about the word ‘peace’. When we or the Bible talks about us having, exercising, or utilizing the “peace of God” such as in the following verse what are we to understand?
Philippians 4:7 (KJV)
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Remember that ‘peace’ is one of the fruit of our spirit which we got directly from God (we have His spiritual DNA). When our spirit man was made alive at salvation, we then could utilize this ‘peace’ on a spiritual, or supernatural level. So, we are not using God’s peace we are using our own which is identical to His. Not identical to His in level of function but in form and function. We don’t for example use someone else’s arm but we use our own arm similar to another person. For example, you may have heard someone say of another, he has his fathers’ nose. Now does he actually have his fathers’ nose or is his nose identical to his fathers? Same thing with the peace of God. The following verse is another example to meditate upon.
Colossians 3:15 (KJV)
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
The peace of God which we inherited or received from our Father God is a supernatural force or tool found in our spirit man and is to dominate our soul (mind, will, emotions) and physical body.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
