What a wonderful day in Him. God is beyond good, if any are having some doubts or misgivings about that we may be focused on our circumstances and not Jesus, the answer to all.
Ephesians 2:3-5 (KJV)
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
As we come into verse four there is a sharp and definitive demarcation between what we were and who we are now and it is all due to God. It is due to the mercy of God.
John 3:16-18 (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Without the pity of God, the mercy of God, we were all on a slippery slope to Hell with no hope of rescue. But God worked tirelessly through time to legally bring the right mechanisms, persons into place and secure His family. He wanted sons from the beginning and now in Christ Jesus the First Son He now has many sons. Once again we are fully capable of being the fullness of His image and likeness, fully capable to exercising dominion and the Power or God (The Blessing) in obedience to His mandates and leadership. Let’s center up now on verse four of our text.
Notice the phrase, “for his great love wherewith he loved us,” I will remind us once again that love is not a warm fuzzy wuzzy feeling although that may at times be present. Love, Bible, Gods’ love, God is love, is the practice of selflessness, adherence to The Blood Covenant, and strict unwavering obedience to the Word of God. Many times we get focused on our obedience to the Word of God but God is obedient to His own Word. I am sure that at times as God was working to fulfill His Word, and still is, He may have been tempted to say “forget it”. We see that from time to time in Scripture then someone reminds Him that is not His nature. You have probably noticed this happens to you from time to time, but then you straighten yourself up and go on with the God given mission. You got that from God, remember you have His spiritual DNA, and we are all in His image and likeness, of like kind (God Class of beings).
God made a promise right from the moment of sin that He would redeem us back to Himself and He has done that in Christ Jesus.
Genesis 3:15 (KJV)
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
God is talking about the seed of the Serpent (Satan) which are the children of disobedience, and the seed of the woman which is Jesus the redeemer the one who purchased back all authority (bruise or crush your head) given the Serpent by Adam and every child of disobedience to this day. The phrase “bruise his heel” has to do with snapping at the heel like a snake might do but not actually biting the heel. Jesus utterly destroyed Satan.
Revelation 1:17-18 (KJV)
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Now back to the love of God, His promise from the beginning.
Genesis 3:21 (KJV)
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
Here is the first atonement, the first Passover, officiated by God Himself. It gave Adam a covering that he had with the robe of righteousness, this bloody innocent animal coat looked forward to the Cross and the Blood that would not only cover (Atone) sin temporarily but that would blot it out for eternity. God kept His Word and we see the fulfillment at Calvary.
John 19:30 (KJV)
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
The Blood Covenant was ratified and now all who would declare Jesus as Lord, the One of highest authority in their lives, the ones who put the Word of God first could be restored to the family of God. God kept and is keeping His Word, what about us?
