Greetings dear ones and welcome back to this engaging study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. It is not engaging because of me but because this is the Word of God, this is life, this is our life. All else is death. Please take a moment and share this teaching and all others as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The Truth is desperately needed in the Church and in the world. Have you read my book “Sacred Cows Among the Ekklesia” which touches on a few of the lies sung and told regularly in Church as Truth. Remember to examine all things. Monitor with a fine-tooth Scriptural comb everything you think, say, and hear. This is life and death dear ones.
Now, let’s move into our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why. We will be moving forward into chapter fifty of Isaiah today. You will notice that I am using the ESV which is the English Standard Version of the Bible. This a Word-for-Word translation, reading Grade level 8.0, and first published in 2001.
Isaiah 50:1-3 (ESV)
1 Thus says the LORD: “Where is your mother’s certificate of divorce, with which I sent her away? Or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities you were sold, and for your transgressions your mother was sent away.
2 Why, when I came, was there no man; why, when I called, was there no one to answer? Is my hand shortened, that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Behold, by my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a desert; their fish stink for lack of water and die of thirst.
3 I clothe the heavens with blackness and make sackcloth their covering.”
The Lord continues saying that He has divorced this land, this people, His peoples. Why? Sin, as we will see in Jeremiah, adultery.
Jeremiah 3:7-10 (ESV)
7 And I thought, ‘After she has done all this she will return to me,’ but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
8 She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, I had sent her away with a decree of divorce. Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went and played the whore.
9 Because she took her whoredom lightly, she polluted the land, committing adultery with stone and tree.
10 Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me with her whole heart, but in pretense, declares the LORD.”
Remember all of this follows hard after a lengthy discussion of idols. Verse nine in the Jeremiah text addresses that directly. Notice verse ten and the phrase “did not return to me with her whole heart, but in pretense”. Jesus spoke of this as well.
Matthew 15:7-9 (KJV)
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Let us examine and judge ourselves that we not be in this place. Let us not play Christian, play Church but seek hard after the Lord. A violation of the First and Second Commandments is spiritual adultery. This is exceedingly serious for the command not to commit adultery is repeated in number seven, a break in Covenant.
Exodus 20:2-6 (KJV)
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Let me leave you for today with this Scripture.
1 Corinthians 11:29-31 (KJV)
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
