FROM THE PROPHETS CHAMBER – WEEK SIXTY
CHRISTIANS AND TRAGEDY – PART ONE

Greetings precious children of the Most High God and welcome back to “From the Prophets Chamber”. Perhaps you don’t feel or think you are precious but you are indeed precious beyond silver, and gold.
1 Peter 1:18-20 (KJV)
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
The value of something is determined by the price someone is willing to pay. God was willing to pay with His own precious Blood for everyone of us and He did it with joy. Jesus the incarnate God paid the highest price possible, did it willingly, and did it with joy restoring us as His very own children and heir in Christ Jesus of all. Yes, ALL! Let us not even for a moment think of ourselves as worthless, useless, and a failure! We are Gods’ very own most prized treasure saints of God. Even our choosing disobedience to God, the Word, does not change our value. Just as when our kids disobey us, they remain a treasure to us even in our disappointment and the process of corrective actions or seeing them suffer as a consequence of their choices.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our main topic of “Christians and Tragedy”. All of us in this life will witness great calamity in others lives and perhaps in our own life. Perhaps someone that we view as “loving the Lord”, a “good Christian” dies young from disease, or is in an “accident” of some sort or experiences violence of one type or another which takes their life. The Christian community in general is stunned by these events and one might hear; “I don’t understand it, they were such good people, loved the Lord”. Of course, there are many other types tragedies that happen in each of our lives or we observe in those close to us. When these tragedies occur in a Christian family, we are even more stunned. Let me warn every reader that you may not like the answers from Scripture, not religious tradition. If you want to stick with religious tradition and remain open to this yourself and be in a state of shock and wonderment when these events occur stop reading now and move on to something that tickles you. Let me establish something right off the bat. God is not in these tragedies, He is not teaching something, He is not working things to the good, and the root of the tragedy is not beyond our understanding, something only God knows. We will even hear that somehow this awful thing is a part of Gods’ master plan.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
So, who steals, kills, and destroys in our lives? Is it God or the devil? Who lives life (Zoe, Eternal life and life now as God knows it) and abundance? There is this idea that everything going on in the earth in our lives is somehow the will of God. Does that devilish thought align with John 10:10? Of course not! We are not talking about what God allows to happen but what He outright caused to happen. God allows or forbids whatever we allow or forbid. Remember, we, have all authority in the earth, not God. Frequently in ignorance but none the less we ourselves give the devils (curse) place and they are not the least bit bashful about taking whatever place we will give them. Settle down. I have taught on this extensively. We are freewill creations and we decide whether we know it or not. The situations of our life, all of them, we have determined, not God, not the devils, and no other peoples. I am talking about our wealth or lack thereof, our health or the lack thereof, and everything else in our lives. Are we decreeing and receiving the curse or the blessing by our own thoughts and mouth? This probably about all we can take for one day so I leave you for now with the following Scripture.
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Saturday.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
