HE BOWED HIS HEAD

Greetings dear and precious saints of God as we enter the last two days of 2020. Welcome back to this wonderful and powerful study of the Book of John. Please take a moment to share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry and the Truth. The featured picture today was taken several months ago at Celebrate Jesus Church of God in Pittsfield of Donna and me. God is so good to us, and He is so good to give me a wonderful wife.
I don’t know about you but it seems that this year has raced by and here we are about to pass through the door of 2021. Let’s each of us think back over 2020 and examine how we have spent the year. Have we redeemed the time, made the best use of the time, or have we engaged in complaining about the pandemic and other acts of defiance? Have you thought about the idea that this pestilence is of the curse, of the devil, and that God, the One in each of us Christians is way more powerful and smarter than the demons? Our Heavenly Father is not the source of Corona Virus but He is using it to separate the men from the boys for sure, and to get us out of our comfy boxes. Now let’s turn to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 19:30-37 (KJV)
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
Notice that verse thirty is where the physical death of Jesus is recorded. Thirty is the number of the Blood of Jesus, the price of eternal life is paid. The devil’s authority is stripped by Christ (Messiah) Jesus and returned to mankind, that is those who accept Him as Lord.
Genesis 3:15 (HCSB)
15 I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.
The word ‘head’ in the preceding verse is referring to dominion or authority. Of course, the only authority (power) the devils have ever had is what men and woman surrender to him through deceptions. All authority or dominion is now returned to mankind, delegated by Christ Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20), just as in the beginning (Genesis 1:26). Meditate the wonderful news found in the following verse!
1 John 3:8 (KJV)
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (Bold added)
We are redeemed from all of the curse including the curse of sin followed by immediate spiritual death. We have eternal life for our spirit/soul man and are about to receive our incorruptible, immortal, physical body just like the one Jesus has today (since His Resurrection). Now, let’s look at the phrase in verse thirty “he bowed his head”. This was a purposeful act just as was His next purposeful when He “gave up the ghost”. Jesus was committed to the will of God from before the foundation of the world but this is His last act as a man in submission (worship) to the Father. The word ‘worship’ is another word the devil has successfully perverted. Worship pure and simple is not the song service it is submission to God (or another person, or demonic powers). One thing this Pandemic has illuminated is how much Christians worship the building in which they gather and the social interactions. Our submission to God is a 24/7 obligation of the Christian. Worship certainly occurs in whatever building the church gathers but that is a very small part of our worship.
Lording willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
