HE BROUGHT JESUS FORTH
Greetings to our precious friends and partners of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word blog. God is so good dear ones. The Thanksgiving Holiday is behind, Christmas and the New Year are looming just ahead. Please take a few moments to share this teaching as widely as possible. Thank you for sharing. Contact us to obtain the meeting id and password. This has been a very different year for sure. What we have done with this year depends on our focus. Let us ask ourselves, has our focus been on the natural, flesh and blood, or the spiritual and the demonic forces that look to destroy this nation.
God did not bring this COVID-19 pestilence upon the earth, it has come by way of the destroyer, it is not the will of God that any perish. The Church are the ones who have allowed this pestilence and the Church are the only ones that can defeat this pestilence. On the other hand, what the devil (destroyer) has meant for evil God can use for good. This Ministry in partnership with others is looking to get out of the box and take the war into the devils’ territory. You will also be seeing changes in my writing as we enter the new year, a new season. I am about to start another book (more on that to come), republish some booklets (short reads), and we will be dropping the Saturday edition of The Three Minute Word. Now, let’s turn our attention to our teaching for today and read our primary Bible text aloud, yes, out loud.
John 19:11-14 (KJV)
11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.
13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
The Jews, the religious leaders are getting frustrated with Pilate so they raise a false charge that was sure to get Pilates’ attention. This false charge (like the others) against Jesus was absolutely false but could directly impact Pilate, his position, perhaps his life if word got back to Rome. What is so ironic is that the person the Jews wanted released was described as a seditionist in addition to being a robber and murderer. They are very intent on killing Jesus whereas, Barabbas is no real threat to them. So, as we enter the thirteenth verse, thirteen is the number of depravity and rebellion, we see Pilate, the Roman Governor, sitting on the Judgement Seat. Let’s briefly look at the words “Pavement” and “Gabbatha”. The “Pavement” is a tessellated mosaic on which the Roman tribunal was placed according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The word “tessellated” means to be formed of small pieces of stone, glass, or the like according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. As you likely have already guessed the “Gabbatha” is just another term for the “Pavement”. Gabbatha, the knoll; gabbatha, is a vernacular term for the Roman tribunal in Jerusalem according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
We are now at the sixth hour in the morning when Pilate is seated upon the Judgement Seat of the Roman Tribunal and says, I suspect in a loud voice, “Behold your King!” I think it is easy for us to see how they are both getting on each other’s nerves. The Jews filled with lies and murder, Pilate just wanting to get out of this mess and preserve the peace. Remember the Words of Jesus concerning the Jews.
John 8:44 (KJV)
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
The Jews responded to “Behold your King!” with the following.
John 19:15 (KJV)
15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
