JERUSALEM

A new day is arising dear children of the only living God. Greeting to all and welcome to The Three Minute Word blog. Please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible to extend the reach of this Ministry, the reach of the Truth. The featured picture today is of Jerusalem above and Jerusalem below, more on that later. As many if not all of you know Donna and I are at the cusp of, really already in a new season. As I sit down to write this (4th of May) plans are advancing rapidly for our move to San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio is where I was born again, filled with the Holy Spirit, did much ministry, and lived from 1984 until 2017, 33 years. The desire that God has given us to live there has been building. We now have the testimony of the inner witness, this is the time to move, God’s timing. It is a new day for us, a new season, a new and exciting chapter in the will of God and we are excited.
Today I will pick up with the first verse from the Book of Isaiah (not doing too well with the chapter a week thing am I) and Lord willing move forward. Do we really understand how wonderful and merciful our God is to give us extraordinary insights into the path’s others have walked before us and our own path today? Are we being attentive or are we thinking we are a special case?
2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Do we suppose that “all scripture” means all or just some like the New Testament? We do not need to repeat the mistakes of those who have gone before us from Genesis to the present time.
Unfortunately, many of us lean too much on our own understanding and not on His, the creator of all things. Think about it, at any given time He knows everything about everything. One would think that His advice would trump all other advice by a country mile. So, why do we insist on living far short of what Jesus died for us to have in the here and now, not just later in Heaven. Forgive us Father. Now, let’s delve into todays Bible Study, let’s read our primary text aloud, yes, out loud. How does faith come?
Isaiah 1:1-3 (KJV)
1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
We have talked a lot this week about Jerusalem and Jebusites. Before I move on just a little more about Jerusalem. We are to study Scripture, not just read Scripture. Studying and reading are worlds apart just as listening to Scripture and hearing Scripture are worlds apart. What did Jesus mean with the following statement which He made many times?
Matthew 11:15 (KJV)
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Is there a difference between listening and hearing?
Romans 10:17 (KJV)
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Hearing is listening to understand, prove, believe, and cause, allow the Word to transform our minds (thoughts, words, and actions). Okay, now back to Jerusalem before I finish for the week. We all know, I hope, that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel and has been since the time of King David. What does that word Jerusalem mean in Hebrew? I think we can all see the word “salem” a version of ‘shalom’ but what about the word as a whole? Jerusalem originates from two Hebrew root words, the first meaning is to flow forth as water. The “water” is the Word of God, Jesus said He was living water, and we are to have that same water gushing forth from us. The second is the Hebrew word transliterated as shālēm according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary meaning to be safe (in mind, body or estate); be complete; (to) (be at) peace, be perfect, to make prosperous, recompense, render, requite, make restitution, restore, and reward. Sounds a lot like salvation by believing and acting upon the Word of God. This word is most commonly translated as peace. The Word came and gave Himself as a sacrifice at Jerusalem and made it possible for reconciliation, peace with the Father for the first time since Adam before the fall. What a Savior, what a Father, what a Holy Plan to restore the family of God. Finally, the word ‘Jerusalem’ from our text is plural pointing to more than one Jerusalem. There is this earthly Jerusalem and there is the Heavenly Jerusalem. Perhaps more on this next week as the Lord leads.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
