I CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN
Wednesday – January 9, 2019, Sh’vat 3, 5779
Greetings and welcome back to this wonderful and powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. We are such a blessed people to have all of the Word of God we have today yet it seems many assign such a low value to it. If we valued Scripture as highly as most Christians say they do we would be doing the things Jesus did and the greater things, but we are not, so we walk on in deep deception. Let us work together to pull back the very dark clouds of the devils’ deception and burst fully into the light. When we do the Church is not going to like it and we will be ostracized just as Jesus in His ministry. The evil basis of the ostracism is envy just as it was with Jesus. We must not focus on the negative but on the wonder and the simply amazing fun we will have doing the will of God. Let us focus on doing the things Jesus did and going forward into the greater things changing the world and bring this thing to closure. The thing holding up the Catching Away (Rapture) is the disobedience of God’s people, lack of faith, and deeply corrupted light bringing deep darkness into the Church. You may think this is a bit harsh but let me tell you this, better to hear this now then at the Judgment Seat of Christ and know in that light He is right and we did not attain the very best for the Kingdom of God. God will wipe those tears away when we realize our awful wickedness in the Church, in the earth, all the while thinking we were champs for God. Now let’s move to our text (some may be thinking whew, finally) reading it aloud.
John 6:34-40 (KJV)
34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
As we pick up in verse thirty-eight Jesus tells them and us that he came down from Heaven to do the will of the Father. There are those who believe that Jesus was fully God and fully man throughout His time on earth. That is manifestly false. We know from the Apostle Paul’s writings to the Philippian Church that the Word, the One we call Jesus, laid aside all that would define God.
Philippians 2:7-8 (AMP)
7 But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.
8 And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!
Next, consider this question, would Jesus have needed to be Anointed if He were operating in the earth as God? The correct answer to that question is NO.
Acts 10:38 (KJV)
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
When the Word left the Throne of Heaven where He was co-equal God with Jehovah and Holy Spirit, He set aside all that defines God and inhabited a body created by the Father in the womb of Mary. So, the Word, inhabited flesh with the eternal part of Him which is His soul and Spirit just as we have in our flesh bodies. Another interesting point or issue I would like to raise for thought is about the memory of the Word, Jesus, which was from eternity past. Consider the following verse.
Luke 2:52 (KJV)
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
It would appear that Jesus did not bring with Him all the knowledge, wisdom of eternity past as God but had to learn as other men learn, as you and I have over the years. However, it is clear from our text and as we carefully study Scripture that at some point He, Jesus, became fully aware of who He was and His mission (perhaps by the age of 12). This did not prevent or change how He had to operate in the earth but brought a clarity of His mission. As some say, He found Himself in the Scripture and came to understand that He was indeed the Lamb of God, that He had Divine origin (was God) and would again be Divine (be God) in His obedience. You and I brother and sister are of Divine origin and are in fact divine with a small “d”. This course of action or mission for the second person of the Trinity was decided in the courts of Heaven with total agreement before the foundation of the world. This was sealed by a Covenant of animal blood in Genesis 15:17 (just look at the numerology).
Revelation 13:8 (KJV)
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
