THE FATHER’S WILL
Thursday – January 10, 2019, Sh’vat 4, 5779

Greetings and welcome back to this wonderfully powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. The featured picture is of the Throne of the Father in Heaven emanating impenetrable Light. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment and hit the “like” and “share” buttons. If you find these teachings of value perhaps others in your circle of influence will as well. Now let’s dive into our study by first reading our primary Bible text aloud.
John 6:34-40 (KJV)
34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Isn’t the Word of God just wonderful? Yesterday we talked at some length but not in anywhere near an exhaustive way about Jesus’ statement that He came down from Heaven. Jesus continues in verse thirty-nine above telling us that He is in the earth not of His own will but the will of the Father. We will look at the last few verses of our text in the Amplified Translation in a moment but first let’s talk about “the Father’s will”. Let me ask a question, is there any difference in the will of the Father, the Son, or Holy Spirit? We see and discuss God as being Triune and as being One God as well. We speak of the Trinity, of God having three distinct personages. As we examine the whole of Scripture, I believe there is incontrovertible evidence of the three Gods (Trinity or Triune) who function as One. As I go aside for a few moments to explore this idea let’s take a look at something I have talked of before to provide a construct or paradigm for our thinking. We are a three part being, spirit, soul, and body. All that happens in our life starts in the soul (mind, will, emotions). I have pointed out as we think of this that God the Father is the soul of God, the spirit of God is Holy Spirit, and the body of God is Christ Jesus. The ideas originate with the Father, are expressed by the body, Christ Jesus, and are carried out by Holy Spirit. This is the perfect example of how a family is to operate in the earth. That is not to say that in human affairs that all parties don’t have a part in the discussion but the final decision is spoken as one, a unified family, with no dissension or eyerolling. So, the will of the Father is the will of the Son, and the will of Holy Spirit. It is not their will by force or mandate from the Father, it is their collective will in wisdom and love (as it should be in all of our families). Okay, now let’s take a look at these verses of our text in the Amplified Bible.
John 6:38-40 (AMP)
38 For I have come down from heaven not to do My own will and purpose but to do the will and purpose of Him Who sent Me.
39 And this is the will of Him Who sent Me, that I should not lose any of all that He has given Me, but that I should give new life and raise [them all] up at the last day.
40 For this is My Father’s will and His purpose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day.
Anyone that comes to Jesus making Him Lord, Savior, will not fall through the cracks or be lost by some happenstance, all will have eternal life and experience the resurrection. Jesus is not going to lose us, and we are not going to lose Him like some accidental event or poor accounting method. One can however with knowledge free of deception denounce the Lord and having once been saved be lost. This is rare and difficult but possible and to us makes no sense why one would do such a foolish thing. But that is exactly what Lucifer did after who knows how many billions of years watching God up close and personal. As we prepare to move forward from this passage let me remind us all that the term “everlasting life” is not to be confused with everlasting existence or consciousness. When we are conceived in our mother’s womb, we are eternal creatures. Our bodies are temporary but for the saint will be replaced with a very significant upgrade, an uncorrupted body. Our spirit man will either remain dead or be quickened at salvation by Grace (Holy Spirit). A dead spirit, one that rejected Christ Jesus remains condemned to Hell, a quickened spirit man on the other hand is destined for Heaven. In fact, at the very moment of salvation not only are we a new creation like none before but we are seated in Christ Jesus at the right hand of the Father. Yes, in two places (our spirit man) at once. Not our soul or body, not yet. At physical death the saints’ spirit and soul as a unified person in appearance as we are today except free of the curse and not old, goes on to Heaven and the body returns to dust. Just one little aside, the curse has its’ manifestation in the body but has its’ origin in a corruption of the mind. On the last day, the Catching Away or Rapture (the Church), the saved receive that uncorrupted body which is like that of Jesus and is unified with our spirit and soul. This gives us authority in Heaven and in earth then and forevermore. We are not just going to hang around in Heaven or worship at the Throne for eternity, we will have assignments just as now, some in Heaven, some on earth, and some in places unimaginable today. Oh, what a time, don’t miss this for anything!
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
