IN THAT DAY

Greetings dear and precious saints of the Most High God and welcome back to this wonderful Scripture giving us revelation about the past and the coming Messiah (at that time). What a wonderful Book, what a wonderful God making all things known to His people. Please take a moment to share this teaching by every available means you have, that is so vital for you and for this Ministry. Thank you so much for sharing. The beautiful picture today is of Donna and me at County Line, a good BBQ place here in San Antonio. Now, let’s continue to read out loud our primary Bible text from the wonderful and empowering Book of Isaiah. No silent reading!
Isaiah 17:9-11 (KJV)
9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.
10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:
11 In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
Our text continues with the judgment of God concerning Syria, Damascus, and Ephraim. Verse ten is very clear as to why all of this is taking place. They “hast forgotten the God of thy salvation”. The people of God are repeated warned about this down through Scripture. You cannot go your own way turning aside to other gods and not suffer judgment. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy so don’t open that door stick to Scripture, the Word, eyes on Jesus, not the shiny thing (could be a thing, a person, an activity) the enemy of your soul brings to you. Look at the 11th verse in the NLB translation.
Isaiah 17:11 (TLB)
11 and though it grows so well that it will blossom on the very morning that you plant it, yet you will never harvest it—your only harvest will be a pile of grief and incurable pain.
This is the price of the curse when we turn from God. By the way, showing up on Sunday is not sufficient to stay out of the curse, it may be a ticket to Heaven, but a miserable ride in the meantime. Remember we are to love (agape) the Lord our God which means we obey the Scripture, not other words, we live a selfless life focused on God and others, and we are aware of the Blood Covenant. Let’s continue on, still reading out loud.
Isaiah 17:12-14 (KJV)
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
14 And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
Let me remind you that in the midst of turning from God there does come a repentance (Isaiah 17:7 below) and then the wrath, judgment of God is unleased on the Assyrians.
Isaiah 17:7 (KJV)
7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
The Assyrians comprised of many conquered nations are those mentioned in verse 13. I have heard it said that the 14th verse above has to do with the total destruction of Damascus in a single night at some point in the future. Some speculate that it is at the time of Armageddon. Perhaps it is when 185 Assyrians are left dead surrounding Jerusalem.
2 Kings 19:35-36 (KJV)
35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
Time will tell; however, it will occur, and is the price of oppressing God’s people. It is never a good idea to oppress Gods’ people.
Lord willing, I will pick up with chapter eighteen next week. Also, remember we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
